Would Defeder be good enough?

Abstinence.....
Norton 360. It's a system hog but works.
Never tried Defender.Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -
I use Linux. No antivirus necessary.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Does AVG. Inundate you with pop ups?

I use Avast free, and I have no pop-ups. You may need to check your settings.
They all seem fairly close as far as protection, but I've never had a virus with any of them I've tried. -
Windows defender has a poor rating. I use SymantecHome Theater/2 Channel:

I use Nortons 360 on 1 system and Kaspersky on another. I like Nortons better but it does a lot in the background. where Kaspersky seems to not do much until you tell it too.
but avoid certain site and you won't have much problems.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

Nope, I've had AVG Free for 8 years now with no problem and it doesn't drag your system down. Its just in the background doing it's job.

I use Avast and have used it for years with no problem. I also run Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware.
I run a full system scan with Avast once a week, a boot time scan every month, and those other three programs once a month.
Windows Defender is IMHO worthless and tends to conflict with other programs. Norton is IMHO to much of a system hog and can do crazy stuff to other program and your internet and network connections so that it becomes a PAIN to figure out why devices aren't talking to each other. As such I stopped paying for it years ago.
AVG is also decent but again I've had it cause issues with my networked devices for no reason and just be a resource hog.
Symantec is decent but Avast IMHO is a better product. I use the FREE version of Avast and have on all my computers, and install it on any computers I work on for the attorneys at work.
As a FYI you can ALSO install it on a Android phones to protect them. Doesnt work on iOS yet from my understanding."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I ran Avast on another machine for years but only started getting the pop up when I started running it on a secnd machine a month ago. It dont bother me much,no more troubling than a than the pop ups in my head.

Did you register it? You will get a pop up to upgrade to pro if you haven't registered, or your registration expired.

I run what Enders. does above and I PURGE the system every day to get rid of whatever has accumulated. Still, regardless, any expert hacker can get through all that to you if they want to. The good thing is that most of us are thoroughly "uninteresting" and there are TOO many of us! lolCurrently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

Agreed. Identity thieves are going after the big dogs (companies with millions of datasets on consumers) so as long as your decently smart you should be fine.
