Very nice looking. I didn't know Rotel ever made TT's.

Funny how those things end up just following you home :)

Its is very clean. Those picts are before i touched it.dont think its gonna stay but damn its pretty. LOL i just love the vintage TT wood box look! If it could do as well as the sl1700 (im sure it cant) I'd love it in my rack. Gonna play with it make sure all is well with it . I just couldn't walk away from it.

    Looks good to me.

Every turntable is -- or might well be --Quad capable (even in terms of "CD4" -- compatible, discrete four channel -- true, multiplexed four channel sound on records).
Matrix quad systems (primarily QS and SQ) should work on any halfway decent tt and cartridge, AFAIK.

    ... so let's talk about CD4 for a moment...

CD4 records require playback with a cartridge/stylus capable of frequency response up to an ultrasonic carrier frequency used to recover the four-channel data from the CD4 record groove. That multiplex "pilot signal" is somewhere in the neighborhood of 45kHz. Many, most or perhaps even all of the exotic stylus geometries (Shibata, line contact, van den Hul, etc., etc.) that we know and love were designed to tackle CD4.

The turntable "only" has to bring two things to the CD4 party: an ability to track that CD4 compatible cartridge with some precision and fidelity, and... you guessed it... very low capacitance cables.

Ive had a few hours of play time with the Rotel now and i can say I'm surprised at how good it sounds. Even works very well with the denon dl110 cartridge. Short of very lite cleaning it need only a relube for the cueing mechanism. Will put new belt (just because) as it holds speed well.dead quiet running, smooth arm movement and auto stop works effortlessly. Overall a very solid TT.
