New AVR acting weird???

I got this Yamaha RX-V2030 and ran the YAPO or whatever the hell it is called when I got it. Now I ran it again after a little burn in time. Now it says my front L/R are reverse??? I did not change a thing. What's up with that, should I be concerned???

My Yamaha used to do the same thing. Double check your wires and pay no attention to Yamaha.

I wouldn't worry about it. I had a Yamaha RXV663, and I encountered the same problem. Everything was connected properly, and I still got the same polarity error message. Found out later that it was an error in the Yamaha GUI, so it might be the same problem with the 2030. (Thanks for the posting. I've been thinking about purchasing the 2030.)

Assuming polarity is correct, then the phase error is caused by reflections from room acoustics. Ignore it or try aiming your mains towards the mic. Otherwise acoustic panels may be required.

However if it sounds good, don't eff with it. Some of those early reflections can add a sense of spaciousness, even though it isn't technically correct.

Didn't you just buy lsim 705? If so it is normal for the yammy to pick them up as reversed polarity due to the crossover design.

I have noticed this. Some sounds sound like they are coming WAY left or right of me, sometimes behind even. If I move my head forward from the couch just a bit it goes away and sounds like it's coming from the speaker. I like it so I'm not going to change it.

I dont have the 705's yet. Maybe it is like jeremy said about reflections because out of four runs It showed one of the speakers ok two times. I got tired of running the set up and just left it as is.
