    I read these threads with a lot of curiosity as I have not nearly the experience in this hobby that many here do. I wish I had a more revealing system at the time of those cable try-outs but unfotunatley it was only recently that I was able to splurge a bit of $$ on my current and very modest system. If another round of those auditions pops up I'll be at the front of the list for sure!

    Taking the recent steps to upgrade my equipment(and cables) makes me realize what I had been missing and keeps me wondering if think my rig could sound better with a few more "tweaks". 2 things that I have learned though...one is that there is a point of diminishing(or even zero) return depending on the equipment that the music travels through and finding the weakest link can be fun and very revealing(such as my upgrade in preamp). The other thing is that just because my rig sounds good to me it may not to you. Recently had some friends over and there were differences in opinion on which cd player and preamp combo sounded the best which makes me wonder how anyone can make a blanket statement about anything that they personally have not auditioned.
