Exodus Audio Maelstrom 18" Subwoofer

Well... I ran the software, but it isn't subwoofer only. So I wasn't able to chart the frequencies very specifically or very low, and the chart could not be zoomed into the 15hz-80hz region. I'll find some new software and try again tomorrow.

It looks like TrueAudio offers a trial version of their TrueRTA software, so I'll give that a try tonight.

The software I downloaded would only let me observe the frequency response one frequency at a time. I put together a spreadsheet for the first few frequencies I tried to measure, but am now realizing the subwoofer probably needs to be in the middle of the room to try to minimize room issues, and I also put the mic near-field to one of the passive radiators; I'll try remeasuring with the mic near-field to the down firing active woofer.

Or just roll er outside to do 1m groundplane testing, then run more sweeps in your room to get an idea of potential in room gain......
I am interested in seeing what you find. If I didnt lend out my UMIK USB Mic I'd send it your way so you can use REW to run room sweeps...."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Could I use REW to graph the frequency response of the subwoofer? I have the mic already wired into the laptop's soundcard. The good news is that my HT does have in-room DSP and will adjust for any subwoofer response issues, but I want to know what the un-adjusted response is first.

Ya sure can! Not sure what mic you have so here is a generic walkthrough: link
Some suggested graph values for posting: link

Well... I got the software installed and started to calibrate the mic, but we have a family from church moving into the cabin today, and had to move the subwoofer into the garage until they move out in January. It's now next to a couch and under a tarp for safe keeping, so I'll close that book for a while. It was a fun project for a while and sounded amazing, but without a HT and with landlord projects, my attention must be elsewhere for at least a few months.

^understand lol. Will look forward to when it picks back up!"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

OR, you could leave the sub in the cabin, blend it in to the room, and run some LFE at random times during the middle of the night.
Now that's funny right there...

Love it! Because of the space in the room and size of the subwoofer, I have to remove it so they could use that part of the room for their bed.
