Dang! Mine are 1.5 years old. Hopefully it's a good trade-in program because coming up with 5 bills for a pair of them takes some time. Not seeing the usual 10% discount when you buy two in the checkout screen....

From having both, one PB ultra was almost equivalent to having two SB ultras for home theater, the only place the SB pulled ahead was in the midbass department, which was corrected with good sub eq. The PB does a great job for music, after having my two channel system down for the past few weeks I've been really impressed how well the PB's work with music.
The SB ultra is awesome (compact) sub, that does excell with music, I hope their price comes down so I can pick one up for my two channel system and put it against my JL.2 channel:

Look 10 posts up lol
I received the email from SVS this afternoon! This thing is a monster! If I could spend $2500.00 for one of those, I would get two of them. The price is just too steep for me unless I win a substantial amount of green, I won't see one anytime soon. I just have to dream for now!

IMO, only a custom build using a driver like the Acoustic Elegance SBP15 w/ the Lambda motor will provide the light and deep effortless bass. Would have to run four and have the sealed enclosures custom made. This same setup was used in a recording studio done by Mark Seaton & John Janowitz: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/927779-nick-barnett-s-recording-studio-monitors-done-john-janowitz-mark-seaton.html
Well done automotive paint can mimic the piano black finish if done right. A good cabinet builder could make any shape or look one could want. Example costs would be about $1900 for the four 15" drivers, $1600 for 4 Speaker Power SP1-700-HT amps. Plus the cost of the customer made enclosures, etc. plus room correction.
Two or four of the sealed box SB16's are almost a no-brainer for him for internet direct subs.

Missed the NJ event from being on business travel; as nice as the Ultra 16's probably are I wouldn't consider myself fortunate living in NJ. -

Really serious question - speakon speaker level line in vs typical RCA/XLR line?
REL no 25 subwoofer uses speaker level inputs while the SB16U uses the typical RCA/XLR line inputs?
I am looking for barnone the best or close to the best reproduction of the lower frequencies.

Here are my initial impressions.
1. This is a big MFER. I know they said it was big but wow this is big.
2. Some SERIOUS BASS... I have only been sampling some movie stuff from Directv.. But it is some seriously deep well balanced BASS.
3. Don't know why i bothered with my other subs.
