Def Tech Mythos STS

So i've decided to put my Mythos STS up for sale. They're in great shape minus a few broken grill pegs (bought them that way) second owner, I have all original packaging materials so I don't mind shipping if I need to. Asking $1350 + actual shipping (54lbs per box). I'll try to get some actual pics up tonight. Thanks!

where do you live ? Your price is very good! I wish I had the $$..! and that you lived in my town. I live in wilm. NC. and would love to hear them in person. I've read GREAT reviews about them ! I own their little brothers for the surround spkrs, the "Mythos Gems, XL". Very crisp and clear surround speakers for sure. GLWTS

Yep I'm in Austin! I started at $1600, I've had these on CL for like three months and haven't had any hits, I can't believe these are still around! They're awesome speakers, I just have some extra funds and am ready to try something new. Insanely dynamic and crystal clear, one of the few speakers I enjoy for HT and music equally.

No but I do miss them. This year alone I've gone/traded from ZU Omen, to Martin Logan ESL, to Paradigm Studio 100, to Def Tech Mythos STS without spending a dollar. I love this hobby, I'm trying to decide between the ZU Soul, Tekton Enzo, Focal 836 or B&W CM8 for my next set. I just like trying to get my ears on as much as I can.

DSkip I might actually be able to this year, my wife has been out of town for two weeks and I've been on solo baby duty. To say she owes me a weekend off is an understatement haha.

First Off I can speak from tons of experience with the Mythos STS that they are a remarkable speaker. The better amps you put on them the better they sound. They truly have a high end sound and have amazingly controllable bass it's sick. I so love these speakers as before I purchased my Mythos ST's I strongly considered the STS's.
I sat for hours listening to them side by side on 3 different systems and hard a very hard time not buying the STS's especially since they where $1000.00 less retail and didn't sound like they where. They also IMO sounded better then everything we had in that price class .
Here is the deal , you get remarkable theater experience especially IF you go Mythos 9 center and surrounds , using the exact speaker all the way around is an incredible experience. Anyone using anything else is a less then Ideal IMO experience.
Another reason is music. When you listen to multichannel music , the 9's all around is remarkable. I was blown away the first time I heard this setup. I Installed it and fell deeply in love.
EFF dude your making me want to buy then just to have them. I still own my ST's and can see my dumb **** swapping out the ST's for the STS's for the sheer hell of it. They are that EFFIN good.
Another thing I fully love about the STS's is their music ability. What a fantastic speaker to listen to whatever kind of music you like. It doesn't matter they do everything very well.
I just want to go hug my ST's now, I just juiced the hell out of my self LOL.

Whoever buys these speakers feel free to contact me and I'll help you get all the beauty out of them. It starts with proper position , calibration and to polish that off using the best quality power cords , line level Sub cables and speaker wire you can afford. They respond to everything you do to them. Check out how I wired mine

Dammit Dan now you're making me want to keep them! Haha I have a friend of mine coming by tonight for a demo and I think he's gonna snag them. I'm happy with them im just getting the itch to try something new, and I literally stole the STS when I bought them so I couldn't have afforded them new in the first place so now I'm second guessing myself. My backup plan was to maybe sell the Emotiva stuff and go back to a nice integrated or to buy the mythos 9 and go back to an Avr.

I'm baby and wife free on Tuesday so I'm planning on demo'ing a lot of speakers. Modia has the B&W 683 S2 and CM8's that I wanted to hear, one place has the Sonus Faber 2.0's and Goldenear Triton 5's, another has the Klipsch RF7ii's and Revel m106's, and I did go browse around another that hooked up the Rega Rs5's that I was really impressed with especially for their size. That's about all I can get my ears on locally, I'm still liking the Focal 836's from music direct too but keep reading mixed reviews on them. ZU and Tekton are ID only but still on my short list if nothing else does it for me.

No I appreciate it, I was throwing it out there bc I always welcome everyone's opinion and haven't got to experience a lot of these for myself. I did like the Rega but have a pretty large room and don't think they'd hold up, and there was about 6k worth of gear upstream from them in a well treated room so obviously I'd expect them to sound pretty good haha. I'd really prefer to stay with towers but just wanted to weigh all my options before pulling the trigger, I with the SF 2.5's were just a little cheaper and I'd def be interested. I've never heard anything by Goldenear I just want to see what all the fuss is about for myself.

Well my friend flaked on me, I can't believe I've been trying to sell these for a month and nobody has snagged them. I'm definitely not dropping the pice any lower, I'll just keep them if it comes down to it. I was supposed to demo the new Triton 5's tomorrow but prob will either wait or just keep these and put the money towards something else.

Decided I'm just going to keep them, I swapped out my IC's with some of Pepsters I had laying around, repositioned them further apart and out from the wall with more toe in, really got the subs dialed in properly and I'm happier with them than I've ever been. Thanks for all the input and advice!

@B Run I tried the rega rs5? I think was the name of them ... they had a 5 in it. Anyway, while they sounded good at lower volume, when I juiced them up to what I like they lost their composure. Lower to med volume ok loud or huge peaks lost it.

That's what I was afraid of, especially bc I have a pretty large room. I think if I do anything it's prob going to be something like the Triton 5's and sub or Focal 836's. For now I'm going to just stick with what I've got I think.

Man those look nice! They carry Devore's where I auditioned the Regas but they were out of my price range so I didn't listen to them. Whatever I get I'm def going to need grills with this crazy kid running around. I've wanted the ZU Soul's for over a year and can finally afford them but I think large paper cones and a toddler aren't going to mix.

I looked at the Usher N6361's but couldn't find much info on them, I've always loved the look of Ushers and know a lot of yall enjoy them but I've never got to hear a pair.

Damn those are nice! I was talking to Sean at ZU and I can do the Omen Dirty Weekends again, but with the Soul mkii drivers and tweeter from that speaker, and clarity cap upgrade with any color I want for $1300 and I bet it'd be a pretty close sound. I still haven't decided which direction I want to go, once I sell the Mythos I want to demo everything I can!

That seems like a pretty decent price. Are the Soul drivers used to bring the cost down even more?

They're actually an upgrade from the other dirty weekend drivers which are old Druid or the original Omen drivers. The ones I had were the Druid drivers and matching Kimber Kaps and the 16ohm Soul drivers are considered an upgrade from that, but still cheaper than the Nanotech drivers in the newer Omen. I really want the new Soul I just can't figure out how to keep little hands away from them haha.

Its 148 am and done with the gig. In a room before I make the 3+ hour drive home.

I forgot to ask how old are the speakers. Im doing some price research for new ones just incase I dont like them so I can resell. I am seeing them on sites for 1100$ each so I take it they are an older model since I keep pulling up a st L Model?

For his asking price , they are a steal. These speakers retail for $3000.00 so if you where to get them used in good condition for $1500.00 that would be a great price and well worth it as good as they are. Paying even less is great as whoever would have purchased them would have $3000.00 speakers for less then half that used.
In my book that has real value.

So where does this sale stand now? Still keeping them or are they back up for sale?

I think they're 4-5ish years old, I'm the second owner. They are still for sale and Erniejade and I have been exchanging PM's about the possibility of a sale but nothing official. Yeah I priced these way low compared to eBay and what they go for used, I got them for a steal and am just trying to pass it on. If they don't sell soon I'm either going to keep them or put them on eBay for like $1750.

I am so sorry about my post on here. I like to keep all " deals" on PM not on the actual forum. I do a lot of chairty DJ work on the side. Unfortunatley a lot of them are 12+ hours. This one I drove to Iowa for at 5 AM, did the gig for Make a Wish, and was done at Midnight. I was tired and thought I posed that post in PM not in the forum. Sorry about that.
