New Speakers...

After many rounds of pm's with fellow members on this site I decided to go with the Legacy Focus S/E's in rosewood finish.
I have had them for a couple of weeks and quickly found that the bi-wires that I recently purchased from Doug were not compatible with the binding post. We talked about it and he turned around a conversion to the locking banana plugs in less than a week. Thanks Doug.
The purchase process was great. I worked directly with Legacy and at one point had a conversation with Bill Dudleston (Owner). Once we agreed to terms they were sitting in my listening room 4 days later. They were shipped directly from the factory and being voiced the day we struck the deal.
Upon arrival they were a pleasure to unbox. The packaging was perfect. Inside the box the speakers were packed in a velvet'ish like bag. The fit and finish is top-shelf for sure.
I now have about 100 hours on them with the bi-wires and am hoping to get an additional 100 over the next week. Once this is done I will provide a detailed review of performance.
My first observation was how well defined the mids and bass were. The highs were non fatiguing and very controlled. With the A21 driving them the bass control and slam was something that I did not envision. The soundstage is still a work in progress as I am trying to properly place them.
I will get more details as I get more hours.
Thanks to everyone on this site who provided me thought, direction and ideas.

Love it, I will be there to hear them shortly. I have a lot of days off coming up and will be able to hear them. This saturday for sure, I am free.
Do you have pics?
Oh and the venerable A21? Hahah... I'm in for a treat if you let me listen to them. I've always wanted an A21. I will be home this Saturday in the morning. I have a guy coming over to take a look at my polks at 8am. I hope he takes them with him. I am going to use the funds for upgrading my IC's and room treatments.
We could plan mid-morning if that works. All are welcome to come check them out. I have been really creative in how I can keep my Polks also. I would say I have lived with the Polks since 1985. Thats when my dad originally purchased them. I have many memories with them. I have been very clear with myself that I will not give them away. If I can't get what I think they are worth I will just use them in the office. A tube pre is what I really want to check out.
At this point I do not have the spikes installed. Wanted to get the location pretty set before I have them stuck into the carpet. Right now they just have the rubber isolation feet on them. Not really sure what to call them but they are completely rubber that stands about 3 inches tall. The spikes actually screw into them. First time I have seen this type of setup. Tony you can see a picture of the configuration on the Legacy website in the manual of the speakers.

Congrats on the new speakers!
I am making it a point to swing through Springfield to visit Legacy's showroom this August when my wife and I make our 2 week trip to the east coast and back on the motorcycle.

If everything permits, at some point you can listen to my Cary slp 05 in your system. I have some incoming gear too like a top shelf cdp. I have Cary monoblocks their top 211fe but those are very difficult to carry - no pun intended.

I really need to consider a move to Texas. Year round riding, great music and food all over the state and a bunch of crazy fookin' audiophiles after my own heart.
My wife may not go for it though...lord knows she almost **** a brick when she found out I bought a $6k CD player (for $850 LOL)
Plus you guys all seem to have gear I want in my upgrade path...SLP-03 to an SLP-05...sounds like a good idea to me. ;-)"Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Not sure about the weather this last week. Was 70 on Sunday, Ice on the roads Monday and Tuesday...and it was snowing this morning. Pretty crazy down here.
We don't handle snow very well. Most schools were out Monday and Tuesday and started 2 hours late today.2 Channel Rosso Fiorentino Volterra II, 2 REL Carbon Limited, Norma Revo IPA-140B, Lumin U2 Mini, VPI Prime w/SoundSmith Zephyr MIMC, Modwright PH 150, Denon DP-59l w/Denon DL-301MKII, WAY Silver 3 Ana+ Speaker Cables, WAY Silver 4+ Interconnect Cables, AudioQuest Niagara 7000 w/Dragon and Hurricane Power Cables -
The Legacy's will only get better with break in and dialing in their room placement. You will grow to love them even more. I was over at a friend's house about a week ago listening to his pair. A very well balanced speaker.

North Texas just does not have the capability to send out plow trucks and salt trucks for a once a year event... it's just not possible. We don't really handle snow or ice well, after a snowy event/ice event, it's like orthopedic day the next day since everyone seems to fall and break bones and hips, etc. Does not happen in other cities that are well versed with snow/ice from my experience.
Anyway, those Focus HD sure look nice. I never noticed the horizontal slats on the sides.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
They look great and I'm sure they sound even better. Am I remembering correctly that you are in Ft. Worth? I'd love to make it out Saturday for a listen and think I might actually be able to do so. Absolutely....btw those Focus are the previous SE model. The OP has the newer ribbon tweeter. Neither are a slouch in any regards though.
Joey,
Agree on the amps bud, let those bad boys sit home. That SLP 05 though might sound fabulous on his speakers. Damn Joey, before I die I want your gear. lol
If you guys set up a time for a get together, and if you can, bring an assortment of IC's with you. I think he's still using some Audioquest King Cobras if he hasn't ditched them yet.HT SYSTEM-

My wife working means I am free to galavant.
I know for sure she is working, I think she is working AM (just need to double check), and if she is then I have to make it to your place around noon or 1pm to get a good 2h in and then I'll head back home. Sunday is a no go, that might be the day I head out to Houston to pick up the 800 diamonds and the mac monos.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -

Good to know there are changes to models and that the new ones have ribbon tweeters.
Regarding gear, I just got cold feet today... after putting in an offer on the magico mini 2 and then 800 diamonds + 1201 mac monoblocks yesterday. Geez. Stomach kinda curling. But yea, that's a topic for another thread... lol..
