The Interview

Guess it's a no go?? Sony pulled the plug on its release. I hope it comes available for public consumption before too long. Anyone already got a peep???

The previews looked hilarious...but I'm not overly political. I'm guessing this thread won't last to awfully long.

My sincere apologies if the the thread is already being taken as a political one???? Not my intent or desire to stir that pot in the least. Just a cool and funny looking flick that is now cancelled from public viewing. Again, I just hope things work out to where it becomes available for me to watch!!

I hope Sony releases it on DVD/BR, and realizes thay make as much money doing that as if it opened in the theater. Then maybe they will start releasing all new movies on DVD at the same time it opens in the theater. I am tired of waiting months after a movie is out before it is on DVD.

The folks at Sony, and the theaters that backed out of showing the film surrendered liberty and freedom of speech to a two bit dictator and his hacker goons. Every freedom loving American that has died to protect our liberties and or freedoms, and our founding fathers are now spinning in their graves.

If I were Sony, I would have run the film, with the premier taking place in Seoul and then opened it up to streaming media, piped directly into Lil' Kim's backward little fiefdom.... pure cowardice on the part of Sony Pictures.

Sorry for an early threacrap. I didn't take your post in a bad way whatsoever. I was actually looking forward to seeing this one. I was just anticipating what this thread might become, and that wasn't fair of me.

Well its turned political now, so here goes, perhaps he will invite his pal Dennis Rodman to the premier.

I saw the previews on TV and no insult intented to those that wish to see it, but you couldn't pay me to watch that garbage.

That said, I would watch real footage of Lil' Kim taking one in the forehead.

Exactly, and they'll probably make more $$ with on demand/PPV and DVD's than they would with a theater release thanks to all the free publicity.

I would have seen it on opening day, even if the reviews were terrible. This was a purely financial move by Sony IMO. When the big chains backed out, and the theater in NYC dropped plans for the premiere, there was no way they weren't going to take a bath.

I got no issue with pulling the movie. It's one thing to wax poetically about freedom and all that, but you gotta be smart and pick your battles. Here's another way to think about it.

A terrorist group warns that they're gonna bomb your local shopping mall and have shown that they have the means to do it...would you send your wife and kids up there to go shopping? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Yeah, must have been a little tipsy when I first saw the preview to say I want to see it. I really changed my mind and agree with Jesse. I have waaaay to much great music to listen to and need to practice my but off for some real cool summer shows I'll be doing, so a review from someone will do when it's possible!

I know most people are condemning Sony for pulling the movie. However if the movie premiere had gone ahead as scheduled and there had been some kind of terrorist event. Sony in my opinion would have a lot more to lose than simply the cost of producing this movie. Business decision on their part.

That may well be but I seriously doubt it. It’s much more likely the hackers have additional information that is much more incriminating that the executives at Sony don’t want leaked.

We lost? Seriously? So now the US Gov't is "securing" Sony Entertainment? lol

Let's review a little history here, why not? Remember when all of Sony's PS3 accounts were hacked a while back because they had next to NO security. And how they took ages to apologize and acknowledge this? Then they, supposedly, brought in a TEAM to beef up cyber-security, lol. And now THEY had their A S S E S handed to them again? Enough said. Time for SONY to PUT some of the H-Wood Money back into protecting themselves instead of wasting it on spineless CEOs and their ilk. (The Spokespeople for Sony today have been worthy of the term milk toast). I'm willing to bet a bunch of teenagers in China could HACK Sony any day of the week! Frankly, I, myself, know of a few who could do this.

I'm going to go even FURTHER. I'll bet you it is MORE difficult to HACK the PC I'm currently using than it is to hack Sony. So many "sensitive emails", Sony? Why?

BTW. I'm also sure that The Interview will soon be available courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Pirates.

I agree with most of that CNH, but seriously, for them to pull a movie because some 3rd world dictator 5,000 miles away doesn't like it....really ?

My thinking is they were between a rock and a hard place. Why ? Because if they went ahead and released the film and something happened were people got hurt, the lawsuits would be flying and Eric Holder would be jumping all over them. That's called fear of ones own government, over fear of some foreign one. The worse of 2 evils in this case. It was easier to give in to the foreign idiot than deal with the one they have.

To add bad decisions on top of each other, they bring in Al Sharpton to consult on movie making ?? Sony's toast in my book and they only have upper executives to blame for their constant poor decisions.
