Happiness depends on happen-ings. What's more important is finding joy. Joy is developed in many ways. Joy comes from just knowing who you are. Knowing what is in your life that gives your joy. Knowing who loves you, and they know you love them. And knowing these things when happen-ings aren't happy. Happiness comes and goes. True joy is permanent.

After reading these posts and a couple news sites, I am still in disbelief. So sad. What a great loss. Such a wonderfully talented person who seemed high on life. I can't imagine what made him do it (if the reports are true).

Years ago Robin was a guest on Oprah, she was trying to conduct an interview but he was spin city into laughter on every topic and question and never actually answered the question. I thought she was gonna wet her pants everyone was in tears of laughter,....a belly full

It was all off the top of his head, it was then I new he was the improve master.

Any you guys ever see him on "Inside the Actors studio" ? Think that's what it's called. You can tell he's got issues but then at the end during question and answer time with the audience, he takes out his improve skills. A master untouched by anyone today.

Page 2 of this thread has a link to the intro and a link to the entire 1.5 hour interview from "Inside the Actors studio". I think the first question was actually answered until about 7.5 minutes into it. He was unparalleled at what he did.

My only hope is that this opens up avenues for people to help in any way those suffering from his illness. I have never felt so low that life wasn't worth living, but I'll never condemn those that have felt that, as it must be a living hell.

In my lifetime, Jonathan Winters, Robin Williams, and Jim Carrey stand out as those tormented souls with wildly manic talents that make us laugh in wonder at what must be going on in their heads.

For as bright as they seem to us, the darkness must be darker than we could imagine.

Yes, if any good can come from something like this it's that it will help people be more open.

I agree! But I'll add: if you've NEVER felt any of that "darkness" in your life, then you're probably NOT human! The ability to keep that darkness close yet not give in to it is a window into the souls of others from which much "light" and hope finds its way into this world!

Look at the final scene in Kurosawa's "Ran" or "Rashomon"! Which most fail to understand.

Everywhere I look, on social media, forums etc people are talking about this, if something good can come from a sad situation it's that mental health issues are being talked about more. There's a lot of misunderstanding about depression, it's not just being sad and it has nothing to do with external influences like money and fame.

Now they are saying Robin Williams was in the early stages of Parkinson's disease. So sad what he was going through in his personal life if this is true.
