Ratings double when Tiger is in a tourny. More money for everybody. Im kinda with Danny on the money thing. Its his moneyxand he can do with itwhat he likes. Is he a diva? Probably. But i have met divas without money as well. Its a personality trait that has little to do with money.

So we were out this morning running errands before it gets too hot out, and walked in the door a few minutes ago. I turned on the TV and switched over to TNT to see where things stand in the tournament. I **** you not, as I tune in they're on air talking about Tiger Woods and continue that conversation for another few minutes, no idea how long they'd already been talking before I tuned in.

    Ridiculous

Maybe golf is just trying to cash in while they can, but I think it's short-sighted and they need to start looking forward instead of looking back.

It's Reality TV meets Golf.....it's all about the ratings no matter how they get it. This enables them to charge a premium for advertising. Isn't it always about the money ?

Like him or not. Tiger Woods is an important figure, not only for his talent but for Identity lines he's crossed.

I must admit that I grew up in an urban context where golf was something that only the wealthy engaged in and country clubs had bad reps back then, for....well you know. Things are different and have changed somewhat since then. But golf is still boring to me, personally. Although, I can admire talent in any field.

Watching golf has the same excitement level as watching those bozos racing around a track all day long making nothing but left turns...ZERO!!!!!

Well the bozos (as you put it) are turning right this weekend...very exiting!

Can't stand watching Golf, about as exciting as watching Curling. Do like playing it though.

I don't watch a lot of golf, but I have to say the courses look stunning on an HD projector.

Also love playing even though I'm not very good.

Why is his racial identity important ? When you start giving people attention, either good or bad based on race, that alone is racial discrimination, is it not ? The simple mention of his race introduces biases. If we are a nation that doesn't supposedly see color, then you can't pick and choose when it benefits someone to do so.

Also golf is no more a wealthy mans game than audio is. You can play Golf on the cheap all over this country as you can your audio. Many levels of play in each.

It's extremely difficult. I took golf lessons as a teenager and to say I didn't have a natural ability would be an understatement. I didn't stick with it. I also couldn't keep my tongue in my mouth as I swung the club, I think it has something to do with hand-eye coordination. A lot of guitar players do that when they are first learning to play. I'm sure I looked really cool with my tongue hanging out as I constantly dipped my head and took a shovel full of dirt out from under the ball.

I think you misinterpret the comments. Of course there is a great amount of skill involved playing Golf at that level, and yes....I do play. Watching a sport and participating is 2 different things. Can't watch baseball either, but love playing it. Golf simply isn't an exciting sport to watch, but you have to appreciate the talent involved. Nascar to me is also boring to watch, but I appreciate their skills.

Not denying we as a nation still have problems CNH, but your the one who brought up his "Identity lines". Which is a PC way of saying his racial mixture. Yes this is a conversation about Golf, not identity lines, and as soon as you inject that notion, then you are no longer the Utopian color blind nation you seek.

    Back to Golf....

Is it me or has Golf fallen into the dumps like every other sport with the drama ? Seems like they do this on purpose for ratings, like reality tv shows. Football has it's drama, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, the Olympics....and now Golf. A sport that has managed for the most part to stay relatively free of drama over the years. Golf used to be known as a "Gentleman's game", and gentlemen don't participate in or promote drama. So I was brought up to understand anyway.

No one's bashing golf, and yes it is a difficult game to play. I've been on a few courses over the years but not to any extent to consider myself an avid golfer. I merely just had fun with it. A blind squirrel could probably have beaten me. But playing it & watching it are two completely different scenarios. Playing was fun but it's just so damn boring to watch. Just my take that's all.

I respect people's thoughts who cant handle watching golf,, that just makes sense, and it took me awhile but now I can watch it and actually enjoy it soemtimes.

I think comments like "It will put me to sleep" just add some humor to the boards :) I now find baseball a little to slow for me and let I'm watching golf ..go figure :)

The comparison to baseball is an interesting one. It seems like baseball should be a more exciting sport because at least they have running and home runs and shutouts, in comparison golf has very little motion. That being said, I love watching golf and can't make it through a baseball game to save my life. I did watch a few years ago when my local team was in a couple world series but that's it.

People like what they like, the problem is that most people don't get that.

Now I do love to watch a local minor league baseball game in person, as the fun is to eat some hot dogs & drink a beer and sitting around the third base side trying to snag a foul ball while hanging out with friends! but then your not hanging on to each & every pitch while the announcers tell trivia stats :)

That approach Rory hit on the 10th was unreal, there are only a handful of people on that planet who could hit that shot under those circumstances. It's impossible to watch him play and not think of Tiger in that five year stretch 10 to 15 years ago...
