Cabinets are very clean, covers also. One driver "top" left speaker not much movement in/out. Gonna give them a run and see.
Actually got the original boxes that has a stamp on them "Ovation Audio", Indianapolis, IN. -
Nice!
Who's she?
Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.
Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze. -
The wife got me a surprise. All sounds fine except one top driver might have some problems. Time to investigate things.
-
Beautiful speakers sir. She's a keeper driver is a easy fix.
Ive never heard the 11's so please do tell what you think of them.. -
Congratulations, she's a keeper for sure. The 11Ts are the sweet spot in the RTA line in my opinion. Once fully upgraded and "TL'd" they are outstanding for music and Home Theater.Home Theater/2 Channel:

That one driver is dead, MW6510. I switched it out with another from another set I have. These now play fine. Gonna have to get a replacement driver.
-
NICE! Those look just like mine, and I love mine. Where in the heck did she find them? Has to have been local since they have a stamp from Ovation.
Keep those boxes! If you ever even THINK about tossing the boxes, let me know, I would come up and snatch them in a heartbeat.
Also as a FYI, I'd be on the lookout for a set of replacement passive's for those. I dont think Polk makes them anymore, whereas the 6.5 and tweeter replacements can be had direct from Polk.
I've managed to secure a full set of replacements for mine if something ever goes south."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
I have another set in "black" finish. Sadly, I don't know all the "lingo" describing speakers. However, the 1st set I have do have a very nice sound, not harsh on the highs or or what I call "blumpy/boomy" on the lows.boston1450 wrote: »Beautiful speakers sir. She's a keeper driver is a easy fix.

Dan,
This is the weird part, wife has a co-worker who had to go to another state for work, she knew a lady who had them, this co-worker told my wife about them, The wife bought them and the co-worker just brought them in this morning..Go figure.
Then again I did do the family wedding thing.EndersShadow wrote: »NICE! Those look just like mine, and I love mine. Where in the heck did she find them? Has to have been local since they have a stamp from Ovation.

So far its just the one 6510. I was kinda worried about the passives as I didn't think they had those replacements. I definately need to get some backups.
-
When the wife called said saying "somethings" in my office, I ask how bad do they look "boxes" wise, she said there the original boxes. I was shocked. Sadly, think I'm gonna keep em for now...

Good. Keep those boxes! Like I said if you ever for some reasons decide they have to go, just let me know and I will come grab them."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Just spoke to Helen, new driver on the way. What a nice lady...

been several old stock on the bay recently. -
I responded to your PM oldrocker, but just so its here as well.
The difference between the T and TL series has to do with the xover (what specifically I couldnt tell you). The T version uses the SL2000 tweeter which is replaced by the RDO 194. The TL version uses the SL3000 which is replaced by the RDO 198.
The difference is so small that if you upgrade the crossovers with the addition of I think one resistor you can make the T into the TL model, and IIRC most folks do that."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Awesome, Thanks!

Snugged up all the screws, running on the Yamaha S700 at the moment, sounds good. Might try the Parasound this evening.
Taking simple steps for now. -

Its running the 11TL's right now and they can POUND out some volume."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I was under the impression that RTA11t the t stood for "tower" but TL stood for "tri-laminate" upgraded tweeter as Dan states. The early RTA15 boxes had printed RTA15t but the SL2000 was never used in them as they had went to the better Tri-Laminate tweeter by the time they RTA15 came out. So early RTA15 boxes all had RTA15t on them and that confused a lot of people. -

Audio Advisor had a 2250 V2 that I was gonna get. I thought I had it bought but when I ask if pictures of the actual unit was possible, it was suddenly sold a day earlier. They also "still" have a bryston 4b I was looking at but gonna stay with Parasound for now as I'm quite happy with them.EndersShadow wrote: »What Parasound? Hopefully this evening I can run both sets and see what differences I might hear.

Nice!HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.
Bedroom system: Carver CT-24, Parasound HCA-800II, Monitor 10's
Additional projects: RTA 12c's -
Went ahead and put the Parasound in the mix, kept it respectable. Not a bad sound at all. This can't be true but the longer they ran the better they are sounding. "I know thats not possible". They seem to be working well for their age.

That amp is a BEAST! It should provide all the wattage those RTA 11's (either set) need. You using it for the SDA's too?Went ahead and put the Parasound in the mix, kept it respectable. Yeah I am a big fan of mine. The RS-II's were purchased solely because they intrigued me by their design, not due to sonic deficiencies of the 11TL's I own.
You should go ahead though and dynamat the passives on both sets and if you have enough the mids."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Yes Sir you are correct. I'm probabaly gonna stay put for a while on the purchases and start the terribly scary modification rabbit hole/holes...Will be alot of questions comin in the future. So PLEASE all overlook my ingornance...EndersShadow wrote: »That amp is a BEAST! It should provide all the wattage those RTA 11's (either set) need. You using it for the SDA's too?

Even spelled ignorance wrong and the rabiit hole/s thing bad choice of words. Scary times ahead...

Should hear what the 1200II does to a pair of A7s...Hooboy insanity at its finest!
LOL... on Saturday (while my wife is at work) I plan to hook my 1200ii up to my LSi 15's downstairs to play around... heck may even do it tonight while shes out to dinner with a friend........"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Looking at the “defective” MW 6510 I took out. When I hold it and slightly try to rotate the magnet, it actually turns some. Is this “magnet” shift? The frame, dust cap, surround and cone look perfect even the seal on the back looks excellent. I’ve never had a magnet turn that easily in my hand. The other issue is when I push in on the driver it does not move at all. The original sticker says Jan 5-1989.
