Your first car

My first car was 1982 Datsun B210 2dr basic model. No A/C manual everything. Loved that thing. At one point had an audio system that was more expensive than the car. Remember Rockford amp, Pioneer head unit, Altec Lansing speakers and 4 T62 Bazookas in the trunk.

My first car was a truck. 1972 Chevrolet C10.
To go along with Tony's transmission thoughts, this truck had a column "stick". Interesting to learn on.
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

That Celica GT was a nice car Sal. Your lucky to have pops grant you a 5 year old car as your first. Sucker is probably still on the road too.
When I was 10, gas was about 27 cents a gallon. My pops had me walk to the gas station to fill up the can for the lawn mower. Remember the old Sinclair stations ?
5 kids in my family and we all lobbied for a weekly allowance. 3 bucks each was what those efforts yielded. For that 3 bucks, aside from helping in the house with dishes, laundry, taking out garbage, cleaning your room, I also had the pleasure of mowing the lawn, washing the car, and cleaning out the garage. Today, you can't get a kid out of bed for less than a 20.HT SYSTEM-

1969 Pontiac Catalina convert with the rare 428 engine. It was dark green. That thing was a boat and could smoke the rubber right off the rims with polyglass tires lol. My 08 vette smokes it though and with modern technology keeps its back end on the ground.
Speaking of newer cars off the subject, its nice car manufactures are putting the fun and HP back in cars. Heck a Toyota Camry v6 can run 0-60 in 5.5. Thats better then 90% of the factory muscle cars from the 60's and 70's
That new dodge challanger hellcat @700+hp os a beast! I wish they made it in a ragtop though. I think since my first car was a ragtop, I am partial to a convert. So since then, any type of sporty car I had was a convert.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's. -
1965 long bed Chevy truck.Lots of good memories, that old thing never let me down.

Earn, had that Catalina too but hard top. Nice car, never let me down either. Solid as a rock. The Pontiac Grand Pre, SJ version was a sweet machine too.
Yeah, some today are putting the HP back into some cars, but with a huge price tag too. A stock Buick Regal GS, back then hit the quarter mile in just over 13 seconds. With a few mods and some slicks, your talking a 12 second machine. Not many today can do that. The other advantage was that you could actually work on those cars yourself. Todays cars have eliminated the driveway mechanic.
I have friends with Land Rovers, some with Lincolns and other higher end luxury sedans. Working on these cars is impossible yourself. Bringing it somewhere to fix automatic leveling suspensions and such will cost you a small fortune.HT SYSTEM-

Tony I like the prix looks better. A friend had a 70 prix with a 455. It was a rust bucket but dang that thing could move. Agree on reliable and repair. I look under the hood of my vette now, no way can I work on it. Polkieman that 396 was a hell of a motor!

Gotta love them rat motors. My last neat street car (in the 90's) was a '72 Chevelle SS replicant, although it didn't look like it with an SS dash installed. 468 rat, large port open chamber heads, 2:75 first gear auto, ran high 10's in the qtr.
I used a 369 mouse motor in Super Comp.

My first car was a Ford Falcon Station wagon from 1961. 98hp six with three on the tree.
And I still managed to get quite a few speeding tickets.
beat the crap out of it. Went through two engines, three clutches, two transmissions, and a differential. Did all the mechanical work myself. That car sure did teach me alot. And it towed three motorcycles to Bonneville six times too. -

+1 on the automatic leveling system on the Lincolns. I used to own an '87 Lincoln Continental, and it did cost me some serious dough, altogether about $3k, to get various repairs done to the leveling system. There was a company called Bagmasters that used to come to you to do repairs. One time, the guy found that I had a leaky air bag. He injected liquid rubber into the air bag and reinflated it. Saved me some serious bucks!! But, the liquid rubber cost $129 a gallon, and that was back circa 1998. When it worked, the system was great. But, when it went bad, forget about buying that new amp.Paradigm 11seMkIII mains, w/ Zu Audio jumpers

1982 Toyota Celica GT - My Dad bought it brand new in 1982 and I got my Drivers License in 1987 and that's when he gave it to me , Only 5 years old.
The brochure is pretty hilarious talking about how it cheats the wind! LOL
A Toyota dealership in las Vegas. Has that exact model year in their showroom.
I it is definitely showroom quality. Has 68,**** absolutely mint. Gotta love brochures from back in the day.
