Wow, and then just Wow! Crated like nothing I have ever received as far as speakers go, and done in style. PBN audio Montanna SP3 loudspeakers all set up and burning in as I am sharing the experience. 100 hours is recommended so I have some un played classical CD's that will grace the home for the majority of those hours. Nice change of music for me. I was so undecided as to what bi wire cables to go with so I called my local high end audio store and they had a mint set of MIT Shotgun series S2S biwire cables 10ft for a crazy price and I took em home. My ears are so shot, so not sure I could tell any difference, just wanted something that was as quality as the speakers are so I did it. The first impression was listening to a CD that Peter (PBN President sent me) Noel Paul Stookey "live in Las Vegas" and although it wasn't my cup of tea, it was so real sounding as though he was playing in my room. The presence of the sound is so surreal and warm it is hard to describe..but I love it! I am including pics of the crated boxes and one of the speakers set up and running and also the box my cables came in. I can return these cables if I don't like em, but what's not to like. The price was way better than anything I heard from the cable makers I talked to, but again this is a used set. You can;t tell from looking as all parts are wrapped in the original plastic. I don't like the boxes hanging on the cables but they are suppose to help do something??? Not sure what it was but remembering someone here say MIT were good and the guy at the Audio store said that this set retailed for big bucks, so again, I snapped em up. After the 100 hours I'm sure I will get a little more into the sound. I hope posting this doesn't go against the grain of Polk, but I am just sharring because I like everyone here and wanted ya all to know I now have a nice sound in the bedroom that will keep a smile on my face for a long time...............I hope?? lol Thanks to the crazy cool cats here for keeping me focused.

While the lighting (or lack of) makes the grills look dirty, they are not. Perfect all the way around. Maybe a little dust or fuzz, but they look great, Black fits in my room perfect,

I have to share...... these towers are nothing short of amazing. Yes I am still breaking them in (only 19 hours so far) and I have ti admitI'm a little hesitant to crank em up, but so far no need, as bring the volume level to just a little makes these babies just dance. Walking around the whole room, the sound really carries nice and even, so you don't have to be right in front if them to get the feeling that true quality sound is happening in the room. So far I just love em! As far as the cables go, I am not sure these are the right ones for my set up, but they're all I have and all I've heard, so I guess I will make em part of the picture. I got such a great deal on the cables, selling them would be easy, but that's probably not going to happen. Man MIT cables are built like tanks!! (not so sure that's a good thing, but they do look impressive) . Had to share the early experience as I am in awe due to the crazy cool quality sounds I am hearing. A whole new musical level, and if these old beat up ears can hear it, I can only imagine what a person with great ears would experience?

Anyone know,..... during the burn in period, is it best to keep volume low?? I am volume trigger happy and had to crank up a couple tunes so far, but not crazy loud.

Don't worry about it, as long as your feeding them good clean power, break in happens over time. Besides, I thought these speaks were used ? Maybe demo's ? If so, they are already broken in. The cables though will need some time.

lol, yes demo'd in the line but not plugged in.(these puppies are brand new) Peter had the big boys working the sound, so he said 100 hrs is needed, just not sure where volume needs to be during those burn in hrs? So much for the classical music for the first 100 hours, as I like that music, just not all day long. Thanks Tony

The more I listen the the speakers the more I love em. The detail is just amazing and I doubt I will ever tire of these babies. Perfect for the bedroom. I feel lucky to have met up with the owner of the company Peter and his welcome was as warm as the speakers sound. An amazing man,and amazing company and just a killer product! 2-300 hours? Really? Wow, that's a pretty BIG gap! So...you mean that at like 2, 19, 67 or 289 hours they should be considered broken in?

    I think whoever wrote that [ ;-) ] meant 200-300 hours.

Just with the upgrade piano black lacquer finish. The owner of PBN audio also has Liberty Audio and made this set (I now own) to showcase at a recent market. They were not played, but looked at and then brought back to the warehouse. I feel lucky to own one of Peter;s masterpieces and the SP3 is just that. The tone has been hypnotizing Tophat all friggin day. No matter what style of music I play , these babies just kill. Not as much power to make them open up nice, The detail is so accurate and presence around the whole room is so nice. Wife commented how nice it sounds, and we all know..Happy wife..happy life! Not sure the MIT cables are right for the set up. 10 ft leaves the cable leading to the RAF speakers hanging in the back of the dresser (like that of a jump rope) and not sure that is a good position for the cables, although they (the cables too) are built like tanks. Anyone??

Well, you keep saying you dig the sound, if so then why change whats working for your ears ? Don't sweat the boxes hanging there, if it bothers you, Velcro them to something or put a few small blocks of wood behind to rest them on.

Okay, these babies have been working for over 100 hours and I have to say WOW all over again, as I am wowed. The sound stage is incredible and it's defiantly a quality thing that is so classy. No matter where you stand in the bedroom, (it's a big bedroom) the quality is still in your ears. True ear candy these speakers are. Not only are they beautiful, but they sound like magic to my ears. I know beauty is in the ear if the beholder, so with that I'll just have to say, I am 110% satisfied with my choice and feel blessed to have met Peter from PBN audio. He sure save me from making a huge mistake. Hats off to Peter (owner of PBN audio) and again thanks tonyb for the positive feedback on Peter. Talk about state if the are crossovers...man!!!!!
