SDA CRS+ Inductors

I've been busy with audio lately. I'm diving into another project already. My minty CRS+'s have already been TL'ed but I'm replacing the Solen's in the high pass (trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about) with Sonicaps which should be here tomorrow.
I was just wondering where to order new 16 mH inductors and which ones I should get? I know DarqueKnight had the NorthCreeks and then switched to Solen's. I also noticed Trey replaces the inductors on the boards as well. Does anyone know where I can find those?
Thanks!

I think Trey had some inductors for sale a while back. Not sure if they were for your CRSs but cant hurt to ask him.If he doesn't have them he could point you in the right direction.

Are you set on air-core? If not, the Erse SuperQ Laminated Steel would be your best choice. They don't make a 16mh, you'll have to buy a 17mh or 18mh and unwind it.Home Theater/2 Channel:

...or use a 15 mh Erse super Q. Sounds great in my 2b's.SDA 2B-TL (Sonicap/Solen/Mills, Erse Super Q, Rings, Spikes, No-Rez)

I have the Solens in my 1.2tl's, and the Northcreek in my CRS+'s. The Solens IMO are too large for the CRS+'s. I have always wanted to try the Erse SuperQ's maybe someday I will..
Shane, I think for the price, and the positive reviews here you should try the SuperQ's, also the size of them would be perfect, but I think asking Trey if he has a full set of inductors for the CRS+'s is worth asking as well..
You can't go wrong either way IMO. You have come a long way since being here, how's that new sub blending in?? -

Haha this is true Larry. The sub is exactly what I needed for the Totem Hawks. The sub I had before did just fine for a $300 sub, so buying the new one was more about matching finishes (and curiosity). I'm having a hard time picking up the differences between the two and I really thought I would. Other than SPL & how low each one digs, I can't pick up any difference in tone or definition.
These are the ones right? https://www.parts-express.com/erse-super-q-17mh-16-awg-500w-inductor-crossover-coil--266-956 -
Should I go with the 15 mH or the 17mH?
Whatever ever gives me more bass the better -
If you want to do it properly, buy the 17 or 18mh and unwind it to the proper value using an LCR Meter.Home Theater/2 Channel:

I used a Solen, it does fit.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

For the board inductors, you can order them from parts express. When I bought them it was a bit over $40 for the six inductors, shipping included.
Here is the link to all the Jantzen air-core coils:

You'll want these:
0.4mH 22GA - index #000-1489
1.25mH 20GA - index #000-1137
2.5mH 20GA - index #000-1695Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
The 22 gauge would be special order. They only stock up to 20 gauge.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Correct. They take a while. You might want to consider a nice Dueland resistor upgrade, another Europe special order, while you're waiting for the inductors.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I was pleasantly suprised when I replaced the factory inductors on the board of my 2.3TL's with the Jantzen. I just did it out of curiosity, but the speaker smoothed out top to bottom, especially noticeable in the mids. The kind of thing where I didn't think improvement was necessary or possible, but there it was.
I had already rebuilt the boards with Sonicaps and Mills."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
Shane, are you using Tony's boards or stock?Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

The 15 will give slightly more mid bass. I'm very happy with the results in my 2b's. I don't know whether or not the CRS+ would benefit from a touch more mid bass. There are somd old threads on this if you search for "Erse". I don't remember the details but I think someone unwound a 17 until it sounded right ... and ended up close to 15.SDA 2B-TL (Sonicap/Solen/Mills, Erse Super Q, Rings, Spikes, No-Rez)

I found an old thread that says Erse will make a 16 mh for $10 extra. That might be an option. Has anyone actually compared a 15 and 16 mh in a CRS+ or 2b?SDA 2B-TL (Sonicap/Solen/Mills, Erse Super Q, Rings, Spikes, No-Rez)

Ah perfect! Thank you for the link & index numbers. I'm using the stock boards but I do have Tony's boards collecting dust. I honestly just don't want to deal with mounting them.
For the big inductors, are these the ones to get?

They are 16 awg. I remember someone saying there is a 14 awg (I could be wrong) but I can't find it. -

That sounds good to me. I'm a big fan of mid bass -

Polk didn't choose 16mh out of thin air, the value was chosen for a reason. You'll be changing the crossover frequency for the dimensional woofer, and altering the design.
Thanks westmassguy. I'm now working with Trey on this and he's going to grab all the parts for me. I'm sure he'll be using the correct values. -
