I was hoping that nobody else would notice that SRT system on ebay, but looks like I was wrong. I've been watching it and bidding on it since the moment it was posted! Also checking out another system for sale, but I'd rather wait for a steal on one if possible.

I see they didn't sell for $1500 and have been relisted:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151352944199&fromMakeTrack=true

The seller describes these as 9/10 condition but IMO they are more like 6/10 or 7/10 at best.

Yep, myself and a friend bumped it up to 1500.02 and never hit the reserve so I gave up. I don't think I'm willing to go any higher than that on that set.

The seller says the subs are missing one of the feet and it shows that in the pics.

If you noticed, the satellites are also missing their feet which have special spikes that fit in four holes on the tops of each subwoofer cabinet. I sent the seller a message asking about them and they blew me off which means they are probably missing too.

I see there are four feet for sale in another auction but they are for the subs. I have never seen the feet for the satellites with the spikes for sale anywhere. You would either have to find or fabricate 5 more feet for these speakers or else find one foot for the sub and try to use Sorbothane pads under the satellites like the RT3000p satellites used.

The seller of the SRT system got back to me today and says he found the feet for the satellites so that's a plus.

Nice. We're above the closing price of the last auction already, so maybe this time the reserve will be met. I had a friend bid with me the last time to prop up the price in an attempt to hit the reserve price. I have a feeling it's pretty high though. The seller is in no rush to sell.

These speakers usually sell for $3,000+ in decent used condition. They were over $10,000 new. I got extremely lucky when I bought mine. The guy was moving and wanted to get rid of them bad. He also thought the subs were blown-out beyond repair. And he lived within driving distance for me to go pick them up which eliminated any shipping issues. Since only a few hundred of these were made almost 20 years ago, waiting for that lucky buy may mean you never get any of these.

They are awesome speakers and I would have paid a lot more for the set I ended up with. I took the money I saved and scored a second control box with an NOS remote control on eBay for $200.

You should see the looks on people's faces when I crank these suckers up! Massive undistorted power that can go beyond any sane limits.

So tempting to bid...But money has been spent elsewhere. Unless someone wants to buy my 5000p system, then I could make it happen!

I bid on it to a point, then it looked like it wasn't going to hit the reserve so I was working on a back door deal with the guy for a traditional buy/sell. He lowered the reserve and someone finally hit it, so not mine. I need to finish up my basement first before trying to stuff in more speakers, so it's ok. I'll eventually snag me an SRT or two!

Too much money for me, I would have stopped at $2k.

Maybe it was someone local that will get upgrade-itis before too long and I'll get another chance :D

Those speakers were probably worth $2,500 but they looked a little rough compared to most out there. Most people take better care of $12,000 speakers.

I almost bought a set from dpowell a while back that were a lot nicer for $3,500.

I think he ended up getting $4,000 for them. They were worth it.

No argument they're worth it, just too rich for what I've got to play with right now...deep into racing season doesn't leave much money during the 'home theater-off season' aka summer. :p

Auto racing, autocross, SoloII with the SCCA. Then there's mountain biking, and I just broke the frame on it and don't have the money to replace it, so doubly down on money!

Anyway, back OT. Someone got a kickass set of speakers! Would have made a nice addition/replacement :-D

I for one could never understand the infatuation some have with seeking out SRT's. As a former owner, IMHO anyway, the 1.2's with a pair of good subs is the better alternative for both music and movies.

That is my opinion as well.

    That wasn't Matthew Polk's opinion.

What does he know, he is only the designer...

And besides, he didn't give any pushback when I told him I liked the 1.2s better while we were listening.

I'm the Polkie that bought Doug's SRT system. For me I was much more concerned with them being mint than I was about a few bucks more.
Plus he was willing to hold them for me until I could make arrangements to drive down to his house from Los Angeles.
The system was (and still is) absolutely like new. He had all the boxes, all the paperwork, all the electronics, and the remote.

Then I almost ended up buying a second entire system from a Polkie in Phoenix.
Then my next purchase would have been a new house that I could fit them into.
