^^^^^ you're right about that! That's a rock concert in your home!!! What do you neighbors say?

You are correct on that. I had a gathering of 17 people at my home this weekend, and everyone was in awe of those big SDA's... I asked everyone in the room if they had seen AC/DC live before, most said yes, but a few had not. I asked them if they would like to experience them once again or for the first time.

I set the volume to 1:30 on the Dodd and then hit "play" and watched... Those that had been there were laughing their asses off in shear delight, they others were going "HOLY $HIT!!!"

Everyone agreed that never in their lives had a home sound system been able to transport them into an event the way my rig did.

Once that was established, we put on my best friend's new LP(on vinyl no less) and everyone was mesmerized by the magic....

I know he would appreciate the plug for his website...

I've never heard a pair of SDA speakers at all, the wish is there trust me, so much so that if I don't find a pair for sale in the next 12 calendar months, I will proceed to custom build a pair if that's what it takes! Crossovers can be fabricated, enclosures can be built (With help), drivers can be sourced. If that's what it takes then so be it. One day some way some how I'll get my ears on Stereo Dimensional Arrays.
Not a bad Idea. Crossovers and PRs turn up on eBay all the time, and new/replacement drivers can be ordered directly from Polk.
As long as you have the correct dimensions, and internal volume, the cabinets can be customized to your liking.

Hey nbrowser, there's a guy on parts-express under the link "speaker projects" who made his own SDA's pretty cool!
    Check it out! http://www.parts-express.com/project-gallery-speaker-project-stereolithic.

I've heard different answers to this question. Some say only 250 were made and others say 500 and then others say 1,000.

I've also heard that 500 were made for USA and another 500 were made to export.

Does anyone really know how many of these awesome systems were produced? It seems like there must have been more than 250.

    All of them....
    Pio Elete Pro 520
    Panamax 5400-EX
    Sunfire TGP 5
    Micro Seiki DD-40 - Lyra-Dorian and Denon DL-160

    Ctr CS1000p
    Sur - FX1000 x 4
    SUB - SVS PB2-Plus

    Onkyo TX-DS898
    GFA 555
    Yamaha DVD-S1800BL/SACD
    Ft - SDA 1C

    Not being used:

Already formulating plans...eschewing particle board for MDF mind you for the first upgrade...hot rodded SDAs from the start anyone ?

chef, nice looking, but apparently only has standard 3 way xovers...whats already coming into view in my head, true (copycat) SDAs from the ground up, new crossovers built on someone's boards, MDF enclosures, genuine Polk drivers and PRs, possibly VR3 terminal cups with SDA interconnect hookups. I'm sure with enough determination, this "could" be done.
Sounds like a plan, and a fun project. That Parts Express project mentions nothing about SDA or Interaural Crosstalk Cancellation. They're just elaborate 3ways, and the builder doesn't even know what the crossover points are....duh
