Some purist hate to use the direct link OPPO-AMP, but I doupt je jolida is so good...... btw, TOOLFAN use the OPPO to decode the signal and less you have electronic in line, cleaner the signal go to the speaker

TOOLFAN66 Your system sound better than mine, I use a simple SAMSUNG 7500 (believe me, your OPPO is better), a SHERWOOD P-965, and EV-P1200 for tweeter, EV-P1202 for woofers, EV-Q66 for surround, EV-Q44 for surround back, 2 EV-CP-2200 for 4(15" sub)...Speakers. SRS-SDA, Frankenpolk center, surround RTA-11, S.back SDA2. Not a pure sound, but i'am OK for that!

"Some guys said" ?? You believe everything you read ? How about if someone said the OPPO 105 sucked ? Would that be your opinion then ?

The dac in the oppo is good, yes....but it is not as good as some other stand alone dacs. That's a fact my friend. People don't use the 105 as a pre amp because there is better out there, and yes I would imagine the Jolida talked about is better.

Just like a receiver, the 105 is a swiss army knife of audio....a good swiss army knife mind you too. That doesn't mean that you can't do better.

OK, the OPPO DAC is not perfect, so? Do what you want!..TOOLFAN66 use the DAC in the OPPO and he don't understand the JOLIDA is useless in the chain of the signal, he do what he want, I don't care.

No, it is not useless....why ? Because it's better than the pre section in the OPPO to his ears...HELLO McFly !!! Stop taking for gospel what you read and go experience stuff for yourself.

What the heck is going on ALSATIAN in USA why so confrontational?

This forum is about sharing ideas about audio, helping folks learn from other like minded people so we don't always have to read reviews from folks who have no history with us before we spend our hard earned money.

Most of the folks who you're bashing spend hours helping audio folks make solid decisions based on their own personal experiences.

Why don't you start your own thread and call it useless and irrelevant b@#sh!@t.

Oh and have a nice day.

    Cheers

TONY B You're wrong, the DAC is the master component in the chain signal, He use automatiquly the DAC in the OPPO, the pre-amp section is only a volume control, nothing more... Also, I hope TOOLFAN66 don.t wear a t-shirt JOLIDA... A t-shirt POLK, EV, DENON sound good, sound "man", hard worker but JOLIDA!!!???..Don't wear t-shirt JOLIDA in OKLAHOMA! believe me!

My friend, the more you talk, the more your inexperience shines threw. No offense pal, but you need to get off the high horse and do some experiments of your own instead of taking what you read on the internet as be all end all truth.

Just so you know, everything in the chain has an effect on the final sound....everything.

Back to the topic at hand... the Oppo 105 -

I'm seriously thinking about replacing my CD player, DVD player, DAC and Squeezebox Touch with one of these. Four into one.

I'm only into 2 channel, usually stream Apple Lossless through the SBTouch but play CDs once in a blue moon.

    Any input from the congnoscenti?

If I use the "HDMI In" from my Dish Network box to the Oppo...do I also need to use a digital audio connection for the best audio?

Or does the HDMI take care of that?

Or do I just want to hook the HDMI directly from the Dish Network box to the TV and then use the digital audio from the Dish Network box to the Oppo?
