Buddy Guy's cover of "Five Long Years" from "Damn Right I Have the Blues". Oh yeah!
Followed by his cover of Wison Pickett's "Mustang Sally" -- back-to-back blues with a feeling.

LOL! When I first met madmax, he thought I was nuts (which I am, by the way) for making CDs of the 2000+ LPs I have here!

you'd have to be nutso! :D it's quite a laborious process, but, to me well worth it! the results blow away the LPs!

    Al Di Meola - Casino
    Columbia Jazz Contemporary Masters Series

Excellent remaster by Vic Anesini from the original analog tapes. Al's arrangement and execution of Chick Corea's "Senor Mouse" is a complete brain massage. Breathtaking, on-the-fly transitions from straight-up electric to synthesized guitar. He does his own drums/percussion on "Fantasia Suite For Two Guitars" to accompany an excellent blend of acoustic guitar and mandolin.

    Al Dimeola is a favorite.

The Snaggs-Hot Tomato-Local band with the pop sensibilities of the Beatles and Cheap Trick. Lush female vocals by Holland Zander (daughter of Cheap Tricks Robin Zander). Crunching guitar riffs, a Zaney (Sideshow Bob lookalike, from the Simpsons) bass player, solid drums. More in the style of the power pop formula. They have their own take on songs by Depeche Mode, Led Zep, Beatles and of course a few Cheap Trick songs along with many many originals. IMO, they are on the verge of being discovered and going national. Very enjoyable to see live and a very enjoyable locally/self produced CD.

Hehe! I'm listening to it right now! Not a vinyl copy, but from the same Columbia Jazz remastered series on CD. I also picked up "Elegant Gypsy", "Electric Rendevous" and "The Infinite Desire" (which is amazing).

    Whop Frazier - Bathtub Blues
    1997, Barn Yard Blues 001

Been awhile since I've spun this selection by the DC area boogie/blues bassist. Glad I did! A rollicking, juke joint feel with rock solid performances and vocals throughout. Also features local session players Vince Evans and John Osmond on piano and organ respectively. Guitarists Vince Evans and Greg Dunn exchange chops on "Hush, Hush - A Tribute to Jimmy Reed" that you wish could go on forever.

    How's that first name pronounced?

I know Hush, Hush... The Siegel-Schwall Band recorded an 11+ minute version for their '71 self-titled release. It is a live track as I recall.

With almost 2" of rain here today and more coming Riders on the Storm seems appropriate here right now...

I really was never a fan of The Doors when they were "new", but the two-disc compilation I picked years ago just stunned me.

The Jeff Healey Band - Hell To Pay

Analog, on my "new" NAK MR 2. Solid album with amazing covers of Knopfler's "I Think I Love You Too Much" -- with Mark on backing vocals and electric guitar -- and Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" -- with George backing vocally and adding acoustic riffs. Also features Jeff Lynn's backing guitar, Paul Shaffer at the keys, and Bobby Whitlock wailin' on B3.

I love this guy's attack. Hendrix did it "upside down and backwards", Jeff does it horizontal and hammering.

Old School Rockin' on this snowy day. I have a (literal) duffel bag of cassettes I can now enjoy again.

An oldie (kinda) but a great one. Johnny Cash-"Unchained" this may be the best of the late career of JC excellent backing musicians and great sound.
Some of the most sincere/heart felt vocals from Cash to be sure.
This is late night, individual listening music at its finest. "Spiritual" is one track that stands out ,to me, as a "window" into the mind/heart of Cash at this point in his career. If ever a song sung by him could be called "sweet" then this is the track.

Not using the C-9 again until I upgrade the RCA jacks. Not real happy with the stockers somewhat small diameter, at least for the ICs on my main 2-ch rig.

    The Tractors
The Blue Collar Rock (gotta be about my favorite song)
    Settin' the Woods On Fire
Tryin' To Get To New Orleans

    Alan Jackson
    The Sounds
Designated Drinker (duet with George Strait)

"The Sounds" has really been growing on me here lately.
