John Mayall - Back to the Roots

    659264_170x170.jpg

Polydor 1971 - original release vinyl. One of Mayall's strongest vocal performances with a "who's who" line-up. Very nice!

Jeff Beck- "Blow by Blow" has to be JB's crown jewel.
Individually every tune on it works, and the overall synergy of the album still amazes me after twenty years.

Got to thinking about Deep Forest so made a session of it.

Deep Forest / DEEP FOREST on the #2 2-ch rig for a good primer while #1 rig is still warming up, then on downstairs for more.

Deep Forest / essence of the forest on the #1 2-ch rig.

Picked this up totally on a fluke. A progressive jazz trio called Niacin. Consists of Billy Sheehan (Bass) John Novello (Hammond B3 Keyboard) & Dennis Chambers (Percussion). If you like the progressive jazz style this is a must have. Never really heard a Hammond organ take front and center. Pretty much replaces a guitar. The other great thing is I got it new for .50c.

That is ironic, I was raised in Chicago, and I can't find a good Gyro down here anywhere.

The BBQ is off the hook in Memphis. Interstate, A&R, Tops, Neely's, Pig-N-Whistle, Pollard's, and The Rendezvous. Just to name a few places with good BBQ that I eat at.

Is Gridley's still around? My parents and Mr Gridley were friends before he passed. His first waiter ended up with the business somehow. Back in the day it was the best. Even better than Rendevous. We better start another thread before somebody gets upset.

Yep, I think so. I haven't had Gridley's in years. It was real good though.
