Great album (and cover art). I have my original and only copy on vinyl but don't have my turntable hooked up. I ripped the LP to FLAC years ago...need to locate it. Sound was very good.

On an 80's BÖC run right now. Cut my teeth on Cultösaurus Erectus followed by Mirrors and Fire of Unknown Origin in high school. Early (and later) works followed. Saw them twice...Revolution by Night tour in the 80's and ??? tour in the 90's. Imaginos was in a Boise club, approx 200 people, and met them afterwards. Buck Dharma (Donald Roeser) was cool to speak with. The boys signed my CD covers. Funny...Buck drove them to/from the concert in a minivan! From stadiums to clubs. So goes the fate of many bands. xz0shi9eq05w.png

I have Secret Treaties on SACD and it's very nice. I'm able to rip SACD to FLAC but, with the latest firmware update on my PS Audio DAC, with few exceptions, Redbook's sound exceptional and I don't find it necessary to seek out SACD unless it's an exceptional master. How is the OMR vs. Redbook? I'm listening to FoUO and it sounds the best I've heard. Redbook from the 80's and it's mastered nicely. Good dynamics and production.

This one sounds better. It's much louder as well. I also have the Steve Miller Band "Fly Like An Eagle" one and I recall similar differences with the previous version I had.

Cool, thanks for the insight! Interesting you mention the sound level (loudness). Always felt I had to crank it up a bit more than other LP's to get the same dynamics.

I saw BOC in about '85 or '86 or so, in a club called the Church Key in Madison, Wi. There were maybe 25 people there. I was jacked because I listened to them all the time in high school and the dorms in college. However, they were not at the heights of their popularity at that time period and when I saw them they were all really f*cked up and couldn't even keep a beat. Buck Dharma was the only one who was playing well and he was fantastic. Disappointing would be an understatement as my expectations were high. But I did get up close and personal. Lol.
  • JayCeeJayCee Posts: 731
That's too bad. I saw Van Halen on one of the last concerts of their "1984" tour and they were stage 3 foobar'd. Eddie screwed up his guitar solo and DLR stopped the concert to "fight" someone in the audience that threw a water balloon towards the stage. Billed as the best band on earth at the time and they sucked!

Think I read many years ago BOC would do concerts under a false name when they practiced for tour...something like the "Coc*suckers"? Perhaps you saw them at one of those? I saw them in Germany during the 80's and they were still huge in Europe. Not surprising as there's always been a bit more longevity for bands overseas. A little known guy by the name of Bon Jovi opened for them. "Slippery When Wet" tour.

Nope, they were definitely BOC when I saw them and billed as BOC. I know it had to be ‘85 -‘87 because that’s the period I lived there. A couple years before I saw them they played the Coliseum but this a very small venue. Like I said maybe 25 people.
