I'd like to know which setup is preferred by most here, and why? I'll be doing mostly movie listening, but that's besides the point. Which is technologically a superior setup?
Too many good quotes to list..waiting for some fresh ammo.

The LSI series was a remarkable achievement in polks history. The goal was a more musical speaker then the RT series was. They did however make a theater package with them.
The RT series is polks Reference Theater series. These speakers are designed for theater first listening. But over the years they have been improved and sound really good running music. They always did a very good job of replaying music but excellent at theater soundtracks.
It's not about which series is preferred but which system would be preferred by you and your needs.
I'll give you my personal example of my journey with both lines in brief.
As a long time polk fan, I purchased a full RT series system. With my time owning them I never felt they lacked in any way when I watched movies but with music I was always wanting more. When polk released the LSi's , I decided it was a logical way for me to go. So I picked up a full LSi home theater system.
With this system, I felt my music experience went way up but when I watched movies, I felt I lost something.
Both lines do most thing very well so it's something that you personally gotta decide for yourself. You can take my experience into consideration but some around here love the LSI's for both duties as well as the RT's.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
The question will be answered primarily by which tweeter your ears prefer. The RT series is a bit harsh to my ears. The LSi lineup has a very clean, crisp sound but seems a bit more muted in HT than the RT series. I settled on SDA's as L/R mains and placed a LSiM 706c in the middle to get the best of the two series my ears enjoy the most. Go with what your ears tell you sounds best.____________________________________________________________

Lsi series is far superior for music.
RT3000 will probably be more satisfying for movies.Up

I have one set of RT3000p's as fronts and RT2000p's for the rear surrounds and FX500i's x4 for the rest of my surrounds and 2 15" velodyne stereo subs (yes overkill I know) and they are amazing for home theater applications and I would recommend them to anyone...they sound great for music too. But like others have said the LSi series are in no way poor in performance and are also great for music and HT. This is all opinion based and you just need to listen to them all and make your own decision. remember your speakers are only good as your hearing so make sure you have no hearing loss...;-)Polk audio RT3000p's
