So, I have multiple speakers all torn apart laying around and my wife is starting to give me the "look"
I have all the stuff ready to refurb my monitor 10b's
I have a pair of SDA 2A's
and a junky pair of RTA 12's that i got for free...(gonna sell the peerless tweets when i get the chance)
So, I'm not a fan of the SDA effect so here I go...I'd like to take my SDA 2A cabs and fill them with my monitor 10 mids, rd-194 tweets and the crossovers so in essence I'd have a bigger version of the monitor 10's...
what say you...?

You'd have a Monitor 11 more or less, with possibly better low base due to the larger PR. Why not a fan of Interaural Crosstalk Cancellation? My 2As blow me away every time I fire them up.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Sell 'em. Actually "trueer" to the recording.

Not everyone likes SDA, or horn speakers, or surround sound, or dixieland jazz, and I think that's what's great about this hobby.
I'd say go for it as you have most of the needed parts, and anything in those Franken-polks could be undone anyway. It's a valid point above in just selling the 2As, but sometimes the reasonable option isn't the fun option... -
no market around here for 2a's...i paid 100 bucks for them....so what am I ruining really...? plus I'm not crazy gluing anything so it can be reversed if i want...
if they end up the way i think they will then they will stay with me....better monitor 10's...Marantz 1152 DC- Denon DP 1200, Soundsmith Carmen MKII- ADS L980 - Blue Jeans IC's -
I run SDAs too. But I don't always listen to them. They do wonders on some recordings and can sound a little funny on others. So I sometimes switch them out for the DREADED JBL L80ts which were late '80s versions of their studio monitors. Most here don't like that JBL sound with the titanium dome. But with some tubes on them they produce some very nice sound.
I also, sometimes, actually prefer to listen to my Monitor 7s, go figure. That's why I keep a range of classic Polks in the collection, they're all great for what they are/can do.
It's your call, but wouldn't the RTA 12s already pretty much be something akin to 10 drivers in a SDA 2 cab?

I used to think that SDA was better/truer, but I recently realized it's just better/different. I understand the philosophy behind the technology, but for it do be the "true" listening experience, wouldn't the recording have to be mastered/mixed on SDA monitors? If the SDA technology is absent in all the recording process and only used on final playback, then whether or not the end result is better, is not the producer/musicians intent. I do think that most recordings sound better/cleaner/more involving through SDA speakers, but that is not the sound that was intended. -

Since the speakers would only be a two-way, how about trying an active crossover? -

Should be a piece of cake, unless the leads aren't long enough. you can also leave the upper half of the 2A crossover in place, otherwise you'll have to plug the mounting holeHome Theater/2 Channel:

Straight left and right may be what you are use to, but it's not representative of hearing live music, which is what SDA's present more accurately.Political Correctness'.........defined

Nice BK. In the future, don't be afraid to mount the resistors to the bottom of the circuit board. It gives you a bit more real estate on top, and can sometimes be the difference between fitting and not fitting.
