I wonder what happens if something brake in it? Do you have to ask the Pentagon for permission to open it up for repairs?

A pair of these were listed on Audiogon a while back. Most likely by the same seller in Iowa.

    http://app.audiogon.com/listings/solid-state-essence-jasper-iii-mono-blocks-2013-08-08-amplifiers-52722

    "Item Description

This was the top model before going out of production.

I have been in high end for 32 years and I still have not heard a better amp. Tube or Solid State.

Exceptions are that it is not the best sound on low impedance loads of 2 ohms or less and it is not the best amp on Electrostatic speakers. Other than those 2 exceptions these are jaw dropping compared to Gryphon, Bermeister, Rowland, Bolder, Symphonic Line, David Berning, and other world class amps."

I like the fact that in four days....

"It learns what load it is driving and becomes the desired match for that speaker.

Example would be, on thin speakers it sounds lush, on dull speakers it sounds powerful and fast. It takes 4 days for this to happen."

Kewl! No more speaker buying! ;)

...however, it's not much of a secret that the CL seller is using photos from an expired Audiogon ad from last August...maybe his camera is busted and he had no choice but to use someone else's photos. I'll have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Roll eyes.

If I'm not mistaken a little over a year ago a guy from Bettendorf Iowa was selling a Krell, a beast of an amp that he posted on CL and one of our members bought it after I posted it here. I think the guy also boxed it up and sent it out on a pallet. Same seller? I will have to look for that post might take me some time to find it. I think it's the same seller.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

My favorite part from the Audiogon ad is: It does not sound like solid state or tube. I'm assuming this is a good thing as it's in the ad?

That was my first thought. In some of the pictures, you can see a little daylight between the panels as well... Is he also going to include the funky XLR connector looking power cables?

The back half is sealed and the front power supply section is encapsulated is quartz resin in a 3D design which is why it is as tall as it is wide and deep. This is in the center to the right of the transformer.

The Essence change the speakers performance in significant ways that even the designer never even heard himself.

First, they have a small sweet spot that changes when you stand up and walk around. This is because the off axis response is significantly different than the on axis.

The Essence allow you to stand up and walk around with the image not changing.

The second change is that as you play them louder they get harsher. The Essence allow them to play very loud without a hint of aggression so that you can't tell they are loud until you try to talk. They just sound bigger when they are turned up.

I did a demo one time where someone had the large Classe 400 mono amps hooked up and I switched to a stereo Essence at the time and the owner heard the change 2 rooms away and ran in asking what happened.

Too funny. An amp that can even change/correct the off axis response and lobing of a loudspeaker.
I wonder if it can do the same magic with my tax return as with the power figures.225watts> 1000watts of Classe?
