    I'll bet...
I am anxious to hear mine with the upgraded crossovers and RDO-194s....In my opinion, they sounded pretty nice to start.

Those look terrific, Steve, very well done! Don't scratch the heck out of 'em putting them back together. ;-)

it's ironic you say that.... I had one piece of painter's tape I could not get up from the black face and was using a bare knife blade to carefully lift it from the surface. One second of not paying attention, and I found myself sanding out a small scratch in my brand new polyurethane...
I tell myself over and over to keep focus.

    Thanks for the kind words.

    Just speaking from experience, Steve.

I have a question for you though...Would you do it again, given the amount of work you've put into them?

just a quick pic for now... I have been busy with going back to work and long hours. This is 8 coats of semi-gloss finish, sanded, and drilled for hurricane nut installs. Slowly but surely the wheels of time are grinding....
    Very nice job

absolutely. In fact, I am going to tackle my 11T's next. The biggest thing I try to do for myself is to not put pressure to get them done. I work on them when I am in the ood, and don't if I am not, which helps me mentally not feel like there is any work to it. And, I have to say, just looking at them without that faux wood... well, it kind of lifts my heart that I had a hand in making them more appealing... and in making my 11T's uglier.:-)
It also helps that I have other speakers I thoroughly enjoy, so it is not necessary to get them finished in any kind of a hurry.

Well, hurry up and get goin' on those 11Ts! I've got a nice pair of them and I want to see how they'd look all dressed up. ;-) I really like their sound and they are in pretty minty stock shape, so their foundation for improvements is in place. Would probably do the standard upgrades/mods on them first. Is their a thread around here anywhere showing your work, to this point, on yours?

    http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?130965-crossover-upgrades-11T

This is the thread covering my crossovers, and I was very new here. There isn't a lot besides the crossovers, but most of what I did are pretty standard upgrades which are done to about very other vintage Polk. But whatever you need. let me know, if it is info or pics of something. I am figuring to start sometime soon after the 5JR are done, as they will be in my system for some time burning in, and my Infinity Rsb still need some burn in as well.
The hardest thing with the 11T's will be choosing veneer. I have a bunch of red oak left, and that will math the 5JR and my Infinitys, but I kind of want to go the extra mile with such a large cabinet, and get something more figured, like a burled or tiger something. I will need 2 sheets, and it would be pricey, but it IS a once-in-a-lifetime project.

Well, I think they are finished. Eight coats of semi-gloss clear coat, sanded, painted backs. Updated crossovers, Dynamatted baskets, Armacell gaskets, hurricane nuts and new safety hex screws, glued the ID badges back on this morning and cleaned them up. right now they are sitting on my Infinitys, so I need to get proper stands.
Sheesh these sound awesome though. I can't believe the soundstage and imaging. They meshed with the B&K right off the bat... can't wait til the tweets and caps burn in.
Tomorrow morning, the RTA 11Ts start coming apart........
