Actually spent the rest of the day with the family. Didnt do anything but drop it in place, not even plugged into the wall yet. Ill report back. :) I hope its a lot better than my old one.

I wanted the SVS something 12+2 or whatever he had too. Dual 12" SVS unit that was crazy huge.

That is a killer sub but don't discount your new addition. I'm pretty sure it's gonna blow you away once you get it dialed in.

Put a BluRay in already. And have you done the sub crawl? Put on some music with good low bass and go at it: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AV3oLLMgS-M
If you need to put the sub on the other side of the room, go wireless!

I got it hooked up and ran my Audessy XT32. Then watched the same scene in Avatar (blowing up the tree) and it was a mjor change for the good! Could feel the bass better, but was also a more refined bass! I'm super excited about the results I got from the swap.

I have to order a wire from amazon or mono price so I can have can do the sub crawl and have the ability to place it somewhere else in the room. I'm hoping for another round of increased sound quality after the sub crawl. Never done it before, so I don t know how much of a difference to expect.

Still not 100% sure on my sub settings though; turned the crossover switch off letting the Audessy do its work. But if I remember correctly it said it set the cross over to 120Hz on the sub after calibration? Thought frequencies lower than that were supposed to be played by the sub. I have more learning to do for sure, not super confident in anything yet, except I am a million times better off than my old puny Panasonic HTIB!

Good to hear things have improved already. XT32 is the reason I want to get the 818 to see what it does for the sub bass.

It's the reason I got the 818 personally. Worth every cent, xt32 works fantastically.

But yeah, Top Gun...REDEFINED!!!! It's my quintessential surround sound movie too, and it's better than ever!!!

Kids have that one. Haven't really watched. Will have to give it a spin. Funny story about kids movies. A few years ago I was working in my office, kids were watching "Lilo and Stitch". There were parts I thought the LFE was gonna bring the house down.

Yeah, in my house the bass is almost fuller in the opposite room, the kitchen, than on the right side of the listening room. Low bass waves are long.

Make sue you let me know how the 818 works out for you. I'm still looking for one. so far I missed out on a couple that sold for cheap...$275, $375.

818 is the only thing I bought new, splurged a little bc none were showing up. Worth it still at 700.

Watched U571 all the way through, amazing!! Depth charges are unreal!

What's next? Saw some rti8s , looking for csi 5 center too. I'm hooked, other good movies?

Dark Knight when the joker blows up the hospital.
Skyfall when the subway crashes through the tunnel

Action movies in general will have crazy sub moments.

Rti's would be a step up from the Monitors for sure. Now all you need is a second sub to smooth everything out!

Speakers are first priority. Do like I do and just buy what becomes available at a steal of a price. My upgrades are based more on opportunity than outright desire in most cases.

+1. I was suggesting a second sub more as a joke. Yes, it would improve bass response but speakers should be your next upgrade goal. Auditioning speakers is TONS of fun! For now, if all you do is watch movies the Monitor line should do just fine. Music is where they always fell short for me.
