Finally getting around to building the man-cave

It has been a while since I have been doing more than a post here or there on the forums. There is good reason however, as over the past month, I have begun construction on the "Man-Cave", which has really transformed into more of a family room than I intended it to be, but, I guess even the wife needs to be comfortable in there... I would post a few pictures, but the uploader is restricting size to 512mb...

I will be quite happy when they get around to fixing all that is broken here. Dan my friend... if you have a way of linking the pictures I texted you, please help a brother out.

I have thought of using an alternate site and load from there, but I just don't have the time.

John, like I said via PM, either email them to me (with the email I gave you) or text them to me again (I deleted your text yesterday) and I will get them posted for you.

If you have WinXp simply right click and select re-size. Otherwise, grab a simple picture converter like

    http://www.irfanview.com/

which is free and resize that way.

    ^^ that there's lookin' good -- serious!

It is indeed a futon; my son still hasn't quite forgiven me for usurping it!

Let's see - the room is 26 x 26; it looks 'massive' (or, perhaps more accurately, 'voluminous') due to the magic of a super wide angle lens (10 mm, DX format) :-)

Yes there's one large closet (storage and - eventually - a small workbench area in there for slingin' solder); the other door opens to a small landing and the steps downstairs - it's a loft over the garage. If Mrs. H would've sprung for a three-car garage, I coulda had as nice a hifi room as Gary Kaufman's ( www.the-planet.org and specifically see http://www.the-planet.org/nnetg.html )

The room, unfortunately, has a lot more crap in it now.

Thanks Dan... insulation is already done, as well as HVAC. I am looking at drywall by the end of February, and all trim, carpet and paint done by the end of March. All wiring, including the entire forward wall @20 amps has been completed. I do still need a long run for a couple subwoofer locations, but have not found a wire I like yet for that...

Sounds like Bob Carver himself. He can design and build one HELL of a tube amp. Just can't handle the e-mail thing. Too funny.

Congrat's on the new build John.

The center of the french doors and the center of the entertainment center are on the same line, which cuts the room in half perfectly. This configuration gives me 42 inches from the side walls, and 7 feet center to center on the SRS 1.2TL's. The sweet spot is 12 feet back, and 42 inches from the french doors.

Looks like your going to have access to the gear from a closet behind the equipment. If so, a big round of applause for making a great decision. If I ever get to build a man cave, that and 20amp wiring will be absolutes.
