Zero degrees outside tonight. This is the first time the fire breathing dragon has not been able to maintain 70 in the house. UGH!

-9 here with -25 windchill a warm coffin sounds good right now. I get to go out in it, it's weird the kind of noises the truck makes when driving in this Polar Vortex. Stay warm and safe everyone me I'm venturing out in this cold, got bills to pay and a audio addiction to support.

Yesterday morning it was -21 with windchill between -35/-40. Our high yesterday was -10

Today I wake up to -15 with windchill between -25/-30 and we might see a high today of -1

Furnace has been running overtime for two days now. I have an older house and despite my energy saving efforts I can feel the drafts

Normal temps here in Northern IL for this time of year 29/15.

Damn polar vortex which many suspect was partially created by global warming.

    Stay warm everybody

Eh...so it's cold. Not like it's never been this cold before. Maybe some of you youngsters were just too young to remember ? Anyway, that Polar Vortex....just those crazy Canadians sending it our way because their pissed over our Hockey teams. Which are made up of all Canadians anyway...so whats the big deal ?

All the people on welfare are gathering in Florida right now. They plan on blowing a collective **** from government cheese to blow that Vortex back into Canada where it belongs. Now that my friends is what I call real climate change. LOL

I hear ya'! I woke up to 3 here in the foothills - let the dogs out and the lab was as quick as she ever is to do her business and back to the door, our husky mix went for an all out sprint and laps around the back yard. He is LOVING the cold, spent most of last night out on the deck sleeping, meanwhile the lab was curled up on the futon!

I did see on Facebook that my hometown in Iowa was rescheduling garbage pickup due to the cold, I can remember MANY cold days hanging on to the back of the garbage truck fearing for my life in sub zero temps!

Yesterday, it was close to -50 wind chill when I got up and driving the 50 minutes to work, my car's temp gauge never got off the lowest mark, and when I got off the freeway it went all the way down to the bottom of the gauge and never came back up. And I had put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. I seriously thought I would have a frozen block or something. Underground parking at work, thankfully, but then on the way home it never went above the lowest mark again. Last night was just wickedly cold with a very strong wind. This morning it was -22 but a little less wind. High of -6 today regular temperature Tonight it is again forecasted to be -20 regular temperature. Animals are really taking it hard, first a lot of snow and now wicked wicked cold temperatures. Pretty much all of December and now the first part of January. And we've got several months left of winter. I can't believe any deer or turkeys, etc. can survive this stuff.

Sunday evening at 9PM it was raining and 39F. Then the weather hit! By midnight it was 32F and the wind was building with gusts in the 35 to 40 MPH range (that very high wind continued for 60 hours and now it's dropped to 30MPH). Monday afternoon the sun came out but the temperature continued to drop, going below zero at 2PM it continued to drop to -11F at midnight.
Now 0F in sunshine and no wind is cold but add 40MPH wind gusts and it gets just plain ridiculous!

Totally weird weather. We had +40 degrees early Monday morning, zero at noon Monday, and bottomed out at -12 with 23 mph winds that put us somewhere around -35. It was back to 0 at noon today, and now a balmy +3 with only a -17 wind chill. We are looking at +40 again on Friday. I guess it's a little better here than on Mount Everest! :-)
