No, the misconduct notation is not sexual in nature.

Well, I am absolutely sure the 6 year old kid now feels like he did something much less "offensive", now that the "offense" was lessened from "sexual harassment" to "misconduct". It's a good thing the school officials lessened the "offense" and gave the kid a break for doing something as offensive as kissing a girl on the cheek. What next, will the kid be sent to the principle for pulling a chair out and allowing a female student to sit down? Interesting that what was once considered chivalrous is now considered offensive, huh?

When the boy kissed her I am surprised they did not call the SWAT team in and have him tased until he was dead. Maybe someone should write the school and let them know they missed a golden opportunity to truly traumatize a child.

Maybe parents should keep there kids home on the days that they take attendance which they use for determining how much a school district gets in state money.

Have you seen the test scores as of late? We should pay teachers based on where the country ranks. We could enforce this by keeping the kids home if the teachers complain that way there union can't say crap. If they don't like it too bad maybe they should teach instead of treat kids like crap.

We are living in a sad world. As mentioned earlier; No common sense and that is no longer common, common sense that is.
I get so frustrated with all this non-sense, I'm glad I raised my kids during the 70s and that was a challenge then, Now 2013, I cannot imagine being a parent, I'm afraid I would have no head gaskets left. Just too much BS.

    Where are all the liberals?

Networks? All in the tank for more communism/socialism in our country.

It is sickening that people, even around here, squeal about certain issues but clam up when something like this comes around.

Where are all the liberals? Where I live.. Porkland, Oregon. It's hippy, liberal hell.. One gal at work caught me drinking a coke.. She proceeded to chastise me for it and say we need a law to ban people from drinking it because someone can get diabetes from it. She was totally serious.. When I explained it would be a cold day in hell before I let the government or anyone else control me like and while I still have my freedom of choice I am going to do what I want and live my life the way I want to, she clammed up and walked away pissed off...

I know it is very different outside of this hell hole. My parents were visiting my sister in PA over the 4th of July and every highway reader board they saw said "Happy 4th of July. God Bless America". That would NEVER fly here.. People would go ballistic. Just the other day people told a couple of little girls they couldn't sing Christmas carols outside of a local store because some people might be offended. Hell..even saying "Merry Christmas" around here is enough to get yelled at.. I did a lot of traveling around the country this year and it was refreshing to be around people who don't buy into the BS that goes on here.

Only one thing left holding me here.. and when that is no more.. I'm outta here..

Yep but a big chunk of the problem is how the kid is raised. Parents want to be their kid's friends not parents. There is more desire to be a professional athlete, or a celebrity than a noble prize winner. While the U.S. spends more on schooling per student, Teachers are underpaid Teachers, or overpaid Baby Sitters. Average starting wage for a teacher in Nebraska is $30,000 or $16.63 an hr just going off a 160 hrs a month x 12 months. Not really that great of pay to me especially for them having the future of children in their hands. If you want to drop their pay more you might as well just go drop your kid off at McDonalds for an education.

What a teacher is to you depends on what you expect from your kid.

The one little bit of a bright side is that they did back down and reduced it to something way more in line with the offense (maybe still too much, but I don't know the actual consequence.) I've heard of many ridiculous stories such as this were the original punishments stands.

One example: 18 year old kid who was living on his own in an apartment wasn't allowed to graduate with his class because another student saw a set of kitchen knives in the back of his car. Knives were in there original packaging because he bought them at the store the previous night because he needed them. Kid had never been in trouble a single time throughout high school and this occurred a week or two from graduation.

No worries it will all work out the more the schools do things like this the more anger the parents well have.

I am working on a website with a list of laws per state and with directions for patterns or kids to kill funding of schools by using the student count days as a weapon just like the teachers hold children hostage with there union strikes for pay raises. Just a nice tool to balance the power out so parents and kids have a say so in things. I love helping others out and why not give a little bit of my love for the school's away.

Not really help as in level the playing field. That way the teachers can fell what it is like being held hostage. They don't want any kind of accountability then this is the plan B and trust me it will do lots of damage. Giving kids the ability to stick a knife to the teachers throat will make it very fun to watch and they can scream all they want it will not do any good. What are they going to do picket each parents house?

And with the current level of like in the government between the parties little will be done to fix the mess it will cause.

And there is a lot more teachers can do in the classroom like when a kid does not understand something they could help them. You have no idea how many times I had asked for help and was plain brushed off or called stupid and after a few years of that crap trust me you give up.

Tell you what sent your kid to school have the teacher call them dumb stupid or **** all the time and see home much they like teachers and our wonderful school system.

The only way to fix it is to burn it down and start from scratch.

My take on this is that it's rare and not very common incident. In a world with this many people there are bound to be some stupid
people in power that do stupid things. This one example. If there were hundredss of 5 year old boys being expelled for kissing 5 year old girls I'd be more concerned.

To me it's an isolated incident that makes the news.
