My Project Tube box S is also a little bright for my taste...Will be rolling tubes once I get my amp situation figured out...Taking it to a guy in Jersey tomorrow...
Also I applaud the generosity of Voltz...
Try some NOS RCA 12ax7 blackplates, they are not cheap but man they blow the stock tubes in my Tubebox DS away.2-Channel System

Finally!! From the first track, I knew this was the right pre. The sound is mellow and strong. The soundstage is deep and exsoensive. My only issue now is dialing in the tone arm. Right now, if I lessen the weight, the tone arm skates off the beginning of the album. But, on every LP, during the last track, it skates towards the end of the song. I'm starting to believe I need a new rack. Right now, it's sitting on a glass shelf in a cheap metal rack.2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.

Glad to hear the pre is working out for ya did you put that little black donut for the anti -skate on your TT? and if you have a level you may want to check how level the table is that your TT is on.
And did you find the spot where your tonearm is just hanging in middle air & then turn it like 15-17 clicks ?2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

Well I didn't get to listen any last night as Wednesday is my late night at work. However, I did check the table to make sure it was level, it is. What puck are you referring to? I do have the little weight thrown over the hook.2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.

the weight you have hanging over the hook, is it in the center part of the tonearm? you could try the 3 different position where it hooks to the tonearm to see if the skating improves. the puck helps record stabilize but will not have any effect on skating.... you can even try it without the anti-skate weight. other then that I try resetting the big counter weight on back of tonearm to see if this helps you problem.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge
