Glad to hear of her progress, even if it's slow. Hospitals have so much infection around, I'm sure the surgeons want her to be home as much as you do. The fact that she's able to eat a little by mouth is a really good sign.
FYI, TPN = total parenteral nutrition. It means she's getting her calories by special formula through an IV line into a large vein. It's a way to bypass her GI tract so it can heal."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
^^^^ yes i guess LOL.... we thought today they were going to hook them back up. She lost 3 lbs in the last few days even when eating. Doctor decided this morning to keep her till tomorrow. WOW my head is spinning when it comes to which darn day she is coming home. We actually though up till 4pm she was staying longer. She told us she was tired this morning & slept most of day. She ate 6 bites of salad & got sick. (We think her system is still in shock). She said she was afraid to say she felt bad because she wanted to come home. We had a long talk & miraculously she started feeling better & ate at 6pm. So i think it will still happen tomorrow. Her SED ? Infection rate was 40
it was 46 on the 24th so thats looking good & progressing in the right direction. They should take the PIK LINE out of her arm before she leaves AS they have it capped off now (just in case they kept it in) so 1 more day i travel to Portland i hope THANKS for all the kind replys & pm's it really has helped as i see my wife for a short period & i travel there & back EVERY DAY it has been appreciated ....Randy.. -

Definitely!
Hope she feels better and comes home soon! There are at least two things that Hospitals are bad at:
1. Keeping things sanitary and infection free (some of the worst bacterial infections are contracted through long stays in hospitals (MRSA, for example, tons and tons of it).
2. Serving edible "food". Haven't seen much of this in this setting.
Hopefully, getting home will mean less exposure to all the "unclean" surfaces in a hospital, and some good food!
Wishing for the best!

Very happy to hear Rebecca is doing better, Randy. I hope she keeps on progressing and you can all get on with life, better than ever, shortly.

Just thought id update this thread. We have a appointment on the 28-29-30 at the Boston Children's Hospital in Massachusetts. Stay at hotel. We are thinking of taking the Amtrak down VS driving my truck or my wife's little car down. Last week Rebecca went through a 4 hour test with special kinda food & ex rays. She is maintaining at 90-93lbs & medications she has been put on she is starting to look better. Iron levels way low still. We went on a 40mile HD bike ride (which she loves) the other day. Stopped at a place she likes to eat.. Had a great day with my daughter & wife sent me a text telling me i took the afternoon off work for a good reason..

That's great Randy, glad shes doing well.

Brother, Deb and i had been praying for you all, since the time of her last hospitalization.
I did not want to pry as far as what her condition was later, as i felt you would post when ready.
I know normal for her is not as with us, but a 40 mile bike trip with dad, sounds like heaven in anybodys book.
It not only takes a strong, brave young lady, but a hell of a family to hang through all you have.
Both myself and deb continue to be with you in spirit, good luck, stay strong, many more great days ahead, im sure.
God bless,

Thanks guys. She was looking not so healthy & we have all we can do to keep her eating to stay going. A few weeks ago she looked very sickly & doctor tried some other medication. Seemed to help her some. Its hard when your children are sick. She still happy as can be though. Never complains..

Best wishes, Randy. 90-95 lbs is anorexic unless she's quite petite? I've been wondering about your daughter for a while. That was a complex operation with a LOT of unknown variables. I am reminded of when I can back from China the first time and it took a team of specialists over a year to properly diagnosis my parasitic infestations, and another year to realize that I had IBS and was stressed beyond normal and was somatizing to the extreme. To this day, I am still not 100 percent but probably well over 90 or even 95 percent of what I was before. EXPERTS. I trust them as far as I can toss an Atlas stone.
The real hope here is that your daughter is very very YOUNG. So in all probability, her body will eventually "normalize" on its own. It might not be in a few months or even in a year, but it will. And when it DOES. The Doctors will, of course, take credit. When they had little to do with it?
Hang in there, it will all work itself out.
