You know from posting here and just the audio crowd in general are just the best ever I think. Everyone just love music and then their gear, I have sold some items and had great conversations back and forth and everyone is awesome. Just then I got off the phone with a guy who bought my sx1000 mono's I did not care for and we talked for a little bit and man what nice guy and we just shot the **** as if we knew each other a long time.

Some people who has bought stuff from me have called me up and talked about gear for long duration's and one guy still calls me from time to time. Its a great hobby to be involved in and I find myself wanting to go to these audio shows and mingle with the like mindeds

Not me....If you would've sent me 11k worth of cables, I would've taken them to the local metal recycling place and sold them for their copper value.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Very true. I had a guy call on a item & talked for 1 hour. He sent me a check for the item 4 weeks ago & ive emailed him & called him & asked WHEN are you coming to pick up your item (which was a 200.00 item) & he says he is very busy & will come a soon as he has the time. Glad he trust's me. But i actually look forward to meeting him after i talked to him on the phone 3 times & cant wait to audition item & discuss other stuff. Also i would like the item picked up also :)

An excellent example is Chris (cstmar01) here on the forum sent me his BAT VK-31 (which when new was approx. $4,300) to audition in my home with no deposit, nothing (All I had to do was pay shipping). How many forums would this occur? How many other hobbies would this occur in? Thank you Chris for the audition!

I have talked to Jesse (F1nut) on the phone a couple times and he is a great guy. I love his stories and antecdotes. I'll call you after I finish with the BAT VK-31 audition Jesse (probably Wednesday).

Great hobby! Great forum! And great people!

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Most Audiophiles are A holes. I know because I have met tons of them over the decades. You will find however some really good people in the mix. You just have to weed them out just like the people on this forum.

There are audiofools, audiosnobs, and audiophiles. The first two categories are lovers of expensive audio equipment so they can brag about brand names, prestige and how much money they spent. The last category is lovers of music and high quality music reproduction. They are generally nice, well adjusted people.

Are you sure you aren't lumping audiofools, audiosnobs, and audiophiles together? Many people seem to like to do that.

As I agree with your comments , I believe it's really only one kind. All of those are Audiophiles bro. Even the biggest A holes are passionate about gear and music. Some more then others , some love the gear more and some love the music more and stop at nothing to reproduce it the best their wallet will provide. Some will live in more affordable housing to be able to afford the better stuff , some give up driving nice cars to do so. I have seen and met all kinds and my comment stands with my experience. Yours maybe different which I'm sure many are.
I honestly don't know what I am in this mix. I love the gear and music alike. I'm also a musician so I play and write it. I even work in the field.

I'll give you a real world example of how we are all A holes on some level or another. Just read old threads about wire or when one of us don't like another and go out of our way to poke at someone. I have other hobbies and never have I experienced the level of anger generated by Audiophiles. The other side of that coin is the fact I have made life long friends with these types of people.

Audiophiles have their share of idiots. But compared to the Sports and Political Forums, those fanatics are in a class all by themselves.

I'll add in a nod for how nice you people are, just joined up the other day after registering my FIRST ever Polk Audio device, a PSW108, nice sub, nice addition to my living room set up, had a couple of questions in separate areas and got unbiased replies no matter the brand name of the equipment I had or was looking at. Haven't seen any audiosnob attitude at all.

    Welcome to the Forum Ken!

There are a lot of very nice people here on the Forum. I've made many friends here over the years. We have had people join with an agenda, they usually self destruct pretty quickly. If you come in her to talk audio, share your experiences and learn this is a great place!
