Who's truth and who's accuracy? Everyone thinks that THEIRS is the only truth and accurate beliefs, hence nothing but trouble and endless arguing. If that is what you want I'm sure there are millions of boards that are on the web for you to go try to shove YOUR truth and accuracy down other like minded peoples throats.
It doesn't belong here and it has NOTHING to do with audio.
Cathy, by definition truth and accuracy are exactly that. If someone is resistant to them, it is because they lack knowledge and understanding in the subjects. If I bring up responsibility, is that offensive as well?
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Man, some of you yutes sure know how to suck the fun out of the forum.
The clubhouse in general has nothing to do with audio, should we get rid of that too Cathy ? Part of what makes this forum what it is, is the little leway Polk affords us to have some fun and not be cry babies about every little indiscretion. When people start crying about other than audio related topics is when Polk puts the hammer down. I would imagine if someone was to complain about the babe pics, those too would be gone.
I would also gather, and just my opinion, that too many cry babies are more likely to turn away forum members than some obscure topic buried in a mountain of other audio threads. It's how we all behave and interact on the forum that will drive people away or attract new members. Thus keeping topics civil has alot to do with what Polk will let slide or pull out their lightning bolt on. Trying to discuss stuff around here on an adult level seems to be challenging lately no matter if it's an Emo thread, or about schools. Maybe that says more than we want to know too about ourselves.HT SYSTEM-

I know what your saying Cathy, I also know where you were going in your first post. I try to steer clear of those types of threads as well.
I only posted what I did as in there is a lot of NOTHING is audio on this forum, and I'm glad for that..
As far as the picture is concerned REPORT IT I could care less, It was posted in fun for the three guys who got banned if you can't see that then maybe your the one who needs to get a better life as mine has been grand thank you very much..
If your life is so grand then there is no need to whine and complain about not being able to talk about subjects and post pictures that POLK has deemed unacceptable.
Polk is the owner of this forum and they decide on the rules. If you don't agree with them, no one is forcing you to stay here and you are free to leave. I do my best to stay within the rules of this forum and on occaision in accordance of Polks's rules I will utilize the report button as is my right, rather than try to prove how tough I am by getting into a stupid argument with someone who doesn't want to follow Polk's rules. I will simply turn it over to the people who DO have the power to stop it.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Sorry Tony but if we can't find fun and interesting topics to discuss that won't turn into major flame wars then yes there is a problem. Because no matter how civil a controversial topic might be going all it takes is one person to post something over the top for it to go down hill. And that is precisely what happens every single time. Then everyone piles onto complain when Polk shuts it down because everyone has a different idea about what is controversial.
The only opinion that matters is Polks idea of controversy. If they shut it down than that's that. Their board thier rules. As soon as you fellas accept that the better off the board will be.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Cathy,
Where am I whining about anything in this thread or anywhere for that matter? also where am I stating I don't agree with the rules here? Do you ever look in the mirror when you point your finger?
Listen Cathy I'm not going to get into this back and forth banter with you. I have always liked you and your simplistic ways you view audio, you are a huge asset here when it comes to this as most newbies are not looking for the holy grail of audio, and you always have great insight when it comes to the basics..
Relax a little would you? this is getting to the point of stupid. No I take that back it has gone over that point. Respect is not a one way street, we are all different and view things in life different.

And you guys wonder why a bunch of people just don't come here anymore.

Too true, Cathy. Sadly, such rational thinking is generally ignored on the internet.

Let's just ban everyone, at least for a couple of days. I hate it when a ban is so discriminitory as to be applied to only those that need it. We should redistribute the ban so it is inclusionary and not exclusionary, and is fairly redistributed to everyone. And then we can have a separate forum for banned members where chaos rules. (please note that sarcasm is in use, please consult a professional prior to trying this yourself)
And while I am a fan of Cathy and agree with her on most things .............. a little political incorrectness and the Club Polk inside joke about pie, including tastefully displayed women, isn't a bad thing.DKG999

It's kind of like a "Tale of Two Cities": "It was the best of times and the worst of times". It wouldn't have been all the interesting of a novel if it had to be retitled "Tale of One City".
"It was the best of times". More "feel good" to be sure, but kind of bland and not very interesting.
Or "It was the worst of times". Kind of a bummer for the long haul.
Some threads, dealing with the technical aspects of audio, are absolutely stellar. For example, DK's write ups. Awesome.
Some threads, not dealing with technical aspects of audio, such as are found in the Clubhouse, sometimes deal with events of the day. Sometimes these events can wander into the realm of politics.
IMO, there have been some very civil discussions in some of the threads in this area. CNH and Tonyb (among others) have displayed examples of how to do so with civility, IMO.
In these same threads, others have "flared up" so to speak, yet overall these threads have remained civil.
An example of "The best of times and the worst of times".
I have no knowledge other than a guess, but I don't believe Polk has a problem in these instances. That's just my opinion, though.
If someone complains, then they deal with it as they see fit. "Out of Bounds" results in a closed thread.
Their company, their rules, to be sure. They seem to allow a healthy degree of self-moderation that is pretty effective.
They rely on some measures of maturity and self control on our part, to be sure. Ms. Cfrizz has wisely pointed that out.
But what is missed by some folks is that an overabundance of sensitivity is not, IMO, a sign of maturity or self control. It's a sign of self indulgence and self pampering. That's what children do.
Just my opinion.
Tell me my gear sucks, and I'll tell you thanks for sharing your opinion.
Tell me I suck (as if !), and I'll tell you thanks for sharing your opinion.
Again, it's Polk's site and their rules. No problem there.
BTW: although I'm sure it's obvious to the most casual of observers, the cute baby pics (with the cute French terrier puppies) was not meant to imply that the banned folks (brgman, nooshinjohn, etc) are "babies". Just saying that they're " chillin' " for now and will be back in a week. Shouldn't need to explain that, but .... for any sensitive people offended by cute baby/puppy pictures, there you have it.
I wouldn't have banned them, but that is strictly Polk's decision because ..... their site their rules.Sal Palooza -

FWIW, in my time here, I've never had as much as even a warning. How it gets to the point of banning is beyond me, so maybe I'm just completely clueless.
You make an interesting point here. I have no doubt there are a few that would love to see my boob in a sling for some of the arguments on here but I must confess...I have never seen so much as a slap on the wrist either. Not trying to risk being added to the time out corner but I have to believe there is more to this story than what is out based on how far Brock and I have pushed the limits and not seen rebuke.
