The only thing I would do different is to use a plug for the large inductor on the crossover board.
The board is setup for it and it only costs $2 for parts.
What would be interesting is to see then if swapping the old one and the new one
makes a difference in the sound.
I would expect the new one to give you slightly more bass.
And checking the ohms resistance at the speakers wire post input to note the difference.
    Nice to know.

Also you have pretty much replaced everything but the enclosure, the MW drivers and the PR.
So folks we are that close to making new SDA speakers. Think about it.

Would a plug actually provide a better connection than a soldered connection?

Zane77, thanks for he kind words, which should mostly aimed at Trey and the guys on this Forum who pioneered these mods. All I did was follow instructions they provided.

"We're listening to Ray Charles's "Ray Charles: Genius Loves Company." It is magnificent! The sound stage is about six feet wider on both sides and very deep -- Ray and his piano are about three feet in front of the plane of the speaker fronts and the orchestra is arrayed across the entire soundstage behind him and the individuals with whom he sings successive duets.

"The instrumentals are deep and clear. The vocals are beautifully precise, clear and warm! The transients are fast and detailed.

That's what stereo is about. Congrats!!

Hmmm, I do not know about using the molex connector for the SDA inductor...

Honestly, if every owner would let me I would solder every connection. Just saying.... :-P

    Thanks, Ray.

Couldn't have - and wouldn't have -- done any of this to either the 1Cs or SRSs without your work and write ups.

I thought a molex would be ok, I asked gimpod, anyway it is a little more convenient too.

Nothing wrong with Molex connections but a soldered joint is hard to beat... =]

This brings Ockham's Razor, the Principle of Parsimony, or the KISS Principle to mind:

Why introduce connections to the male side of the connector, connections to the female side of the connector, and then the connections in the connector itself, when you can simply solder wire-to-wire -- that is, one connection per wire?

Seems to me that introducing the Molex connector multiplies the probability of problems by a factor of three. If ease of disconnecting and reconnecting at your pleasure is more important than confidence in the connection, then the Molex makes sense. If having the lowest probability of problems in the circuit is more important, then solder joints make sense (assuming you know how to solder properly).

On the other hand.......Polk uses Molex type connectors on their crossover boards, many close to 30 years old. I have never heard of a single problem with them. Have you? Take a look inside just about any piece of gear and you will see Molex type connectors, they are and have been an industry standard. Besides that, there is no guarantee a solder joint will not develop a problem and in fact, we hear about those issues on a regular basis.

Well when I try the new inductor I will put a male plug on it just like the one I put on the old one so I can switch then out easily. That way I can see if it does make a difference. I mean since they are two separate pieces it was just easier and I am left handed.

The SDA connection holes on my custom boards were sized and spaced for either a soldered or Molex connection. In the beginning, I used soldered connections because I was delusional and didn't think I would do further mods to the boards. After the second post-custom-board mod, I popped in the Molex connector. It makes life a lot easier for people like me who are always taking their crossover boards out.

Another benefit of the Molex connector is that I have long, heavy 10 gauge SDA inductor wires and the wire vibrations put would put some stress on the solder pads. The Molex connector is a much better mechanical connection for long heavy wires in a high vibration environment.

If I decide to "shed" any of my other vintage Perreaux equipment, I'll let you know first!

Right now, it's all being put to good use.

Great stuff, isn't it? Too bad more folks aren't using it.
