Anyone hooked up two subs for different freq response?

I have two psw650's, I am running full range into sub1 RCA input; sub1 crossover set to ~45hz, then have the high-pass output of sub1 going into sub2; sub2 crossover set to ~80Hz...I tried it and it sounded amazing!

Thoughts?

    Similar to the idea of the Mid Bass module the HSU Research offers: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/mbm-12mk2.html

    The use a driver better suited for upper mid-bass.

    What is your system? Is it theater or 2 channel?
    I never use 2 subs running different frequencies as I don't see any point doing so. Most of the time , Subwoofers are running 80hz and below. This is not a lot of Frequencies for a sub to get jumbled or lose timing etc.
    What 2 subs do in a room is cover more areas with even bass. They work together to smooth out the room.

    - I get the HSU idea of a sub in the corner and a light cone low inductance driver midbass module closer to the listener

    -It sounds like the OP is trying to do a little of both? I guess the questions are...where are the subs placed in the room? How much different does the different crossover points sound vs. both at the same crossover point? The psw650 is not a "true" low end monster. I think the Tom Nousaine measurement has it at ~ 105.9dB (35hz). While a couple of other moderate sized subs measured at SVS 20-39cs ~ 109.5dB (25hz), Hsu vtf-2 ~ 107.1(25hz)

    IMO, using something like the Polk or HSU MBM playing higher close to the listener then adding something like the "True Subwoofers" HSU or SVS or a large 15"-18" true 20Hz monster in the corner would support the split frequency idea better.

    ...but if the op already has two Polk subs then by all means use them and enjoy them!

    Yes i did it the simple way. I used a y cable (a good one) on a sub out from the receiver i've tried mixing and matching but matching the freqs seem to give it a smoother sound to me but it's all about user preference.
