I just added a TL3 Blackstone (only thing in the Polk line that would fit) and was wondering at what level to set it in comparison to the other speakers. Runnning a 5.1 Rt20001's FXi300's and an older sub. Just looking to see if other people set all the speakers at a certain level and if so what that is. The answer may be what sounds good to me, so fire away. If it matters I am using aTX NR707 and a Acurus 125x5 on this set up. I have the fronts set at 10.5 center at 7.5 rear R&L at 8.5 and sub at 6.5. Thanks and I hope this isn't too dumb of a question.

Every room is different, and distance plays a big role too. Can your receiver play test tones? If so, just set it by ear. I normally set the center just a hair quiter than the fronts, and the surrounds just a hair louder than the fronts. Good luck!

Man, if all those speaker levels are on the + side, thats running them pretty hot. I don't think I ever had a speaker at anymore than a +3.....even a subwoofer.

The only way anyone can tell you how to PROPERLY set this is with a sound pressure level meter. Worth the $35 you'll spend on one.

Where can you pick up a decent one in that price range?

Got a smartphone, ipod touch or tablet? SPL apps are anywhere from free to about 5 bucks. I wouldn't do professional setups with em, but they will certainly help you even out the levels. I use my phone more than my radio shack meter just because its always on me...
