things have been kinda slow around here lately, not a lot of posts or threads compared to the last couple months, im still fairly new, is it normal for activity to drop off after the holidays? have spammers deterred people from using this board as of late? i kinda miss the days of clicking new posts and gettin 2 or three pages, now im lucky to see 10 threads on there, also if there are any seattle area folks on here hit me up, i'll be in town setting up a 2.2 next month and would love some input

Has nothing to do with spammers. We get those guys year round. Maybe just the winter blues, christmas bills hitting the mailbox, Tax season around the corner. Those 2 things alone depresses people. Then we get periods of time where the same few questions are asked almost daily by different people. Nature of the beast I guess. We always go threw peaks and valleys with forum activity, nothing new there.

Since these threads always bring out the response of "Popcorn.", why don't we debate the merits of that (popcorn that is) ?
I am sure it would degrade quickly, microwave versus hot air etc.........

It all starts with the source silly. Good popcorn seeds is a must. Then you have the salt, not just any salt, but good sea salt. Of course you can't mention popcorn without mentioning butter. Not margerine....real butter. Then there's how hot it needs to be. Everything matters when it comes to popcorn....and audio.

does the heat source really matter? i mean, heat is heat, right? the popcorn can't tell if its a flame or an electric burner...

ah but it can, also what you pop the popcorn in, ie: a kettle, a paper bag, a foil pan,hot air, and whether or not the popcorn is in the oil/margeine/butter when its being popped or after, or even if it on the cob or off

but i have read plenty of studies which say once you get to a certain temp, the heat sources become indistinguishable... though i have never personally popped popcorn....

Sure it does....one can burn the seeds more leaving that burnt popcorn taste in the bag and your mouth. That also means less popcorn the more that gets burnt. See.....everything matters.

Cant believe you guys are missing the most important part! Signal Cable makes their new Magic Popcorn Power Cord and no microwave should be without it. This cord will bring out much greater detail in the taste of the popcorn not to mention much more complete and thorough digestion so you wont be as gassy after eating.
