Hello,

I recently moved in to a new home which has 4 in ceiling speakers installed. What is the easiest way to find out the model so I can look up the specs on them and plan my entertainment system?

Thanks in advance.

    Hello KCCO,
Welcome to Polk's forum. If you are unable to look down from the attic then measure the overall diameter, from outside edge to outside edge (I'm assuming they're round speakers). The model can usually be determined from this.
    Cheers, Ken

Thanks Ken. They are installed in my basement so the attic trick is out. I will measure them up and see if I can narrow it down. Is it possible to remove them without causing damage to speaker or roof?

Yes you can remove them without damaging anything. Get a paper clip and build a small hook out of it to remove the speaker grill. You insert the hook into the grill near the edge and work it out some , then repeat all the way around until it falls out, Try not to bend the grill as if you do it won't want to go back in. There will be 4 mounting screws around the outside of the inclosure , loosen these screws evenly , there is dog ears that flip out to hold the speaker in the drywall , don't lose them. It's not to bad in ceiling as they will just fall on the drywall inside , you can reach your hand in and grab them to reinstall.
