The Rotel is a nice amp. I have never had that model but I would think they are somewhat comparable. It is a well known amp. These Parasounds do not come up very often. I see that someone on Audiogon is asking $1900 for the version 2 of this amp which between the two there is not much differance. That being said, I am a big fan of Parasound. If you came to my house you would see. Plus, Parasound always gives the current capabilties of their amps and this one is 45 amps per channel:cheesygrin: Parasound simply makes great products and if you have watched for Parasound amps on Ebay they go fast and get good cash. I would like to sell it to someone here but I know if I put it on Ebay I will not have any problems getting more.I guess the word is out.Any opinions on this amp vs. my Rotel RMB-1095? Will the Parasound be a step up? Noticeable impact on AQ???HT System

I can also say that this amp haves no problems driving 4 ohm speakers. Driving my Martin Logans are proof of that. I do not know how the Rotel does with speaker loads of that range. Plus, I do not see what the amp/channel rating of that Rotel amp is. Amps vs wattage ????
You know that at 250w/ch 8 ohm and 375w/ch at 4ohm that this amp haves a good gain value in power. I think my future calling is to be a Parasound salesmanHT System

BTW, thanks to everyone who pm'ed me but are not local and have expressed interset in purchasing it. If it does not sell local I will consider shipping but right now I am pretty much against it because of the weight. Here is the picture of the power that comes with it that I forgot. It is of course a genuine Wan Lung 12 guage power cord about 10ft. Michael - if you do buy, can you please post your review in regards to Emotiva XPA vs Parasound 5250? Your inbox is full and I wanted to send you a private message.
I have RTI10, and you have the RTIa9's - how does the Emotiva XPA-5 sound with your RTIa9's? Enough power? The parasound should be in a different league compared to the emotiva's... but thats just my opinion... Having said that I havent listened to the 5250 but the older hca series (I own the hca 1500) which sounded more detailed in all respects compared to emotiva...Fronts: Wharfedale diamond 9.6

The waiting is not a problem as I know this is a busy time of the year and I am in no hurry to sell. I also want to be fair and give everyone a chance. I enjoy this site and it's members too much to do it any differant. Now CL would be a differant story. The selling of this amp is only a step into trying to get something else which is going to cost me alot of moola. You know in this hobby the "what would that sound like" bug always comes around. That said, this is a great amp!HT System

I understand that many people would agree that Parasound > Emotiva all day, but the Emotiva-XPA-5 is my first amp I've ever owned for my "starter" home theatre. That's why I'm curious. I would buy the Parasound, but Dave would need to wait until early-mid January. I would have no problem waiting either. Emotiva offers the " bang for the buck" chance in being able to get into a external amps. But in my opinion ,as said, it is not in the same league. I have had several amps and have heard Emotiva and , well let me just say that I will be sticking to Parasound for what I see a long time. I already have the pre and tuner.I would like to thank those here on CP who introduced me to Parasound. Eight years ago I never heard of them .I know there are probably better amps but they are alot more expensive. The Parasound HCA1500 that I had in the past made my RTI 12's come to life. This amp made my Martin Logans sing.

Thank you to everyone on this thread. I will be a proud papa for this wonderful amp. I am arranging for pick up now.
I am not very good at testing amps and speakers but I will give this by best try. For the record I have moved my RTI-A9's out and am now using my SDA_SRS in my HT. I picked up the SDA's from Cstmar last winter and they have the new tweeters, x-over mods and rings. (and they sound great with the Emo XPA-5 bi amped.)
I would like to try to A/B the amps with both the SDA's and the RTI-A9's and maybe even work in an Adcom GTP 600 to see if that works better than my Onk TXNR 708. The Adcom does not have HDMI so it will not be able to stay but if I can work it in I will.
My plan for this amp is to have it run my SDA's with 2 amps each and my center leaving my txnr 708 as it is running the rears and sides. Does anyone have any experience with bi-amping sda's with such a beast. My goal is to have a great HT and improved 2 channel out of the same rig. Michael, how are you planning on using two amps to run your SDA's ? First, these run 4 ohm loads very nicely as it did with my Martin Logans. So, try the Parasound just running your SDA's. You can not mono this amp with combined channels and so never go down to 2 ohm loads. I believe this Parasound is common ground but since I never had SDA's, I am not 100 percent sure.
Either way, I am sure you will enjoy it. If you are talking about having one amp connected to one set of speaker connections running the mid-highs and the other connected running the lows then go for it. But first do a A/B test like you said with your Emotiva.I have tried biamping and biwiring speakers in the past(not with this particular amp) and I never really noticed that much of a differance. But trying differant thinks is what makes this hobby fun as long as you know what you are doing. Does anybody know if this Parasound is common ground?HT System

Nice work guys, I was looking around for that common ground info. From my limited experience with bi amping I just sort of figure that the amp thinks it is powering 2 different speakers when I plug into the high side and then another into the low side. It has worked well with the XPA-5 and I thought I would just kick things up a notch with the big Parasound. The XPA-5 does not mind, that I know of, running 4 ohms to the SDA's and 8 ohms to the CS5 center but I try and keep an eye on things.
I actually plan to do the wall brace and spikes that darknight used once I get the placement a little more dialed in and then bring my RTI-A9's back in and see who sounds best...boy, everything is so heavy, makes Bose seem more practicable now.Main Family Room: Sony 46 LCD, Sony Blue Ray, Sony DVD/VCR combo,Onkyo TXNR 708, Parasound 5250,

You will have no problem running 4 and 8 ohms loads together. When I got my Martin Logan( 4 ohms) fronts and sold my RTI12's I was still running my CSI5 center for about 5 months untill I got my Martin Logan center and everything sounded great. You can give it a try and see if it makes a differance biamping your speakers. Hey, if I never tried upgrading my cables to see if it made a differance I would have never know. And no, please let's not start another cable debate here.
