RTi 9 and emotiva XPA amps

Hi all.

Have 4 RTi9s in a 30 by 16 room. Rti6 for center. 2 15 subs. Im running 3 amps. An emotiva xpa -5 channel running the rear RTI9's and center. Then an xpa -2 channel for each front speaker. Is there another recommendation for amp placement or is this about it? Is there better equipment these speakers could power off of?
Room surrounded by Rtia9's.
2 Xpa-2's firing the front
Xpa-5 firing the center Rtia6 and rear
2 MFW-15's firing on all cylinders
Onkyo NR3007 playing my favorite song

Is there better equipment? Yes. Do you necessarily need it? No. Sounds like you've got a stellar surround system man!! Emo just released more amps in the XPR line that you could possibly look into for more power, but they require their own individual 20amp breaker and line so not really sure how convenient or cost effecient that would be. More folks will chime in for amp ideas but I think most would agree you probably don't need it unless you listen to a good percentage of music.

Btw, you need to post a pic of all those A9s!! I'd love to see that!

Emos are not very popular here. Usually a discussion about them descends into useless flaming and nothing more. That said, there must be something to the idea that Emos aren't the quality (musically) of others because I've had level headed people share their ideas about them because they own them and know. There aren't many complaints about them with HT applications but its just looked down upon in music reproduction especially with the RTi/RTiA line speakers. Typically the darling amps here are Parasounds, B&K, Adcoms, just to name a few. I personally love my 2250.

Man, that A9 surround looks BEAST! Do you really get much sound from your rear 9s?? Seems like overkill really, but I LIKE overkill!

I feel it adds more to my bass needs. or should I say my MUST HAVES.

So what makes emotiva less popular. I wish I would have came hear when buying my stuff. What qualifies another amp better power for power?

2 15s and you still have 'Bass needs' .....good grief man!! LOL!

Well, its claimed that PA speakers are 'bright' which is supposedly very true in the RTi lines. So 'warmer' amps like the ones I mentioned are supposed to help with this issue. I bought my amp unheard (as I did my entire system) because everyone had spooked me about getting anything besides this so i went with the safest choice, plus the fact I found a good deal on a like new one! As to what qualifies better, man thats for someone more educated about the subject than me. Just parroting other posts I've read and shared info from friends.

I'd really like to know myself, from an engineering standpoint, exactly what the differences are and the impact they have. That has yet to happen however. Don't be concerned about your choice of amp however. There are several on here and elsewhere that have them and have great results!

what works better for the 'bright' Rti9s. Im like you in a way. that I was told these particular speakers works best with an amp. So i bought an amp. and that is were I filed because I did not bother looking for a particular amp. Just one reasonable that had good reviews. Ive never had the availability to just listen to different amps.

Parasounds are one of the best for our type of speaker, according to many because they are 'warmer'. I ran my 12s for a long while with nothing more than receiver power and after the amp arrived and was setup, I was extremely pleased! I've never had the ability to listen to different amps either so I just went with the suggested brand and I haven't been disappointed!

There is a good market for parasounds. I would check audiogon.com as well. The 2250 puts out 250wpc and 45amps.

950 is high for that one. 800 would be more in range imo.

I looked there. they REQUIRE you to put a forsale price in the tread. Hard for me cause I do not know prices on this equipment. I feel i start to high and no responses. Or two low and screw myself. Any idea what this is worth.

Yes but he already owns them and they look great!!!

To the OP: IMO Keep what you have if you use it more for HT!! No reason to spend money just to spend it and your only going to tame the A9's so much..

IMO you have a nice system as is. If your looking for something smoother look outside of Polk unless you can afford the LSiM's

Thanks for the humbling message toolfan. And yes mostly I do HT. and not looking to spend just to upgrade. only want to perfect it.
You were reading my mind because I was just checking out the LSIMs and SWEET. But not this year. And im kinda of a fan of the brightness on the rti9s.

I own the A9's as well and have a XPA-3 running my front stage and for HT I love them but I can only handle so much music out of them knowing what my SDA's sound like upstairs with different amps of course..

Have fun hunting for a new amp it's always fun when you know you have a new toy coming in..

Go with the list F1 gave you then he won't steer you wrong..

Well, i'm always a fan of more is better. But to be honest John, your pretty much at the max of more with your setup...LOL

If your looking to upgrade, just because you have the upgrade itch..well thats fine. But may not be a good thing in your case. You say you like the brightness of the 9's. If you change out amps, you will probably lose some of that brightness.

The real question would be...what if anything, don't you like about your system???

Exactly Naturallight. I dont want to change to something I thought would be better but worse. And I may like what I have better after listening to the various amps listed by f1nut earlier. But Ive got a list to start with. And i can hear compared to what I have.

And natural. I guess what im looking for is less bulky. At a 100lbs apiece. these amps are heavy. And it dont sound like I will find this. Maybe next year.

So tweaking now. May upgrade my wire and plugs.

John ...your completely throwing me for a loop here..... Now either there is something you don't like about the "SOUND" of your system...or it works fine??

Are you saying the amps you have are too big?? They seem to be sitting in the right place in your pic..do you want smaller amps?? And if so WHY??? Seems they fit and if you like the sound why would you mess with them?????
