^ That's what I was afraid of. Problem is I could maybe get $700 for the iNova but if I spend that on a tube integrated i'm still out a DAC which will easily be another $400. Looks like i'm going to stick with what i've got, but I REALLY want to get these ZU's hooked up to some tubes!!! It's killing me.

Thought about trying a tube buffer to add some tubage to your system... could get a Yaquin for a couple bills....

I don't think I can. The Peachtree uses a tube pre to a SS amp and there's nowhere to put a buffer in since I'm going digital into the DAC and it's all integrated.

b-run, maybe if you bring your zu's to lsaf we can get a yaqin 20l to let you listen to the combo.

I'd love to make it to LSAF but it's the week before my daughter is due, don't think a weekend trip out of town would go over too well haha. Yeah my biggest problem is I use my living room setup several times a day, off and on so it's really hard to get a full tube setup into the mix. I think my best bet is sticking with my iNova, at least for now. My only other path i'd consider trying now is a new tube preamp and class T amp, i've heard good things about those little T-amps and high efficiency speakers.

Since its on and off often, I would do as you suggested and go with a tube pre-amp. You COULD almost leave the pre on 24/7 and not worry tooo much about killing your tube life. And then stick with a small power ss amp that powers on and doesnt need a warm up time.

"Quick power cycling" is a bad thing and that's why there are no remote control on/off switchs on tube power amps (integrated tube amps as well). If someone accidently (or on purpose) pushed the on/off button to turn the amp on and then a few seconds later pushed it again to turn it off and then back on again would cause a "quick power cycling" of the amp and blow a fuse (best case scenario) to blowing a resistor or something much worse.
