What do you think about the look of the new Polk Monitors?
I think they look ok, but the center channel cover looks a little weird to me. They now have a silk tweeter too.

Aside from the new location of the tweeter, it looks like the Monitor and TSi jumped in bed together and thats what came out.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2

I like em, but definitely agree. Still not a fan of the new logo though. -
Speakers look nice. I like the tapered grill. No issue with the logo.

I agree with these looking like a hybrid between the M-series and the TSI. The Specs for the TOTL are almost identical to the M-70s with a slightly wider cabinet and the repositioning of the silk/polymer tweeter (Polk has been using such a tweeter for ages).
I don't know why they would shift the tweeter to the top? In the Original M-70 (which I still use in my HT) that arrangement was so that the upper midrange driver and the tweeter could work in tandem and at a slightly different configuration than the rest of the bass/mid drivers!
In any case, they do look cool. And I was never a fan of that "bottom" ported TSI setup. Yeah it gave you a little more bass but it also muffled things up and made placement more temperamental, more interactions with different floor surfaces, etc.. With the front port you have fewer constraints on where you can put them.
When did Polk update this line. And why? The TSI series has really not been out that long!
And does this mean that we can expect to see a new RTi-A line soon???

Agree 100%
I find this line to be a total overlap with the TSi line. On top of the fact that they have been selling the series II on newegg for a long time at really low prices...
Unless they are pulling the TSi line, I just don't see the point. Is Polk pulling a page from the book of Ford with the "new" Taurus? -
Allow me to jump on the "hate the new logo" bandwagon. That being said, I would like to take a listen to the Monitor 45Bs!
-
They have a big of a "Paradigm" look to them. I dont mind the logo in the grills. I actually like the look. I'd rock them for a HT.
-
There are better looking monitor series, but after a while they will grow on me.
-
I think they look pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the new logo either, but I'm relieved to see they didn't include the heart!2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0

It's lacking class...just horrible.
Definitive also changed their logo , funny how they both did it at the same time. I find no reason for Logo changes unless there is something wrong with it.
I gave Definitive Technology HELL over thier new Logo and they where not really cool with it. I was brutally honest and told them it flat out sucks **** and looks stupid. a D. Really??? They told me some bull about how the original logo doesn't always scale correctly. I suggest a D.T and they looked at me with " You might have something their but" the D stands for Definitive and that was the point , the period makes the statement. I told them it sucks **** anyway.
I feel the same way about polk's new logo , the original one was awesome and I felt needed no changes. Yeah upgrade your driver technology and cabinets , go for some new heights with the LSIM's , rock the world with sound bars and HT in a box but please leave whats not broken alone.
O yeah the new monitors look ok , I don't pay much attention to them but ok cool.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I like the MTM arrangement better. I wonder if there is any sonic differences between the older Monitor line (Monitor 40) and the new one (45T?)?Things are more like they are now than they ever will be!
-
I dont like the logo either, but at least it doesn't have that horrible heart next to it. :rolleyes:Do you hear that buzzing noise?
-
I dont like the bezels covers are flat on top and on the bottom.
I do like that the fronts match the rest of the cabinets finish.B&W CM9Classé Sigma -
Has anyone had the chance to listen to the new monitor III? What numbers are correct on the subs/mids? 5.25,6.5, or a mix like the monitor I and II.

I do not think the monitor is a replacement for TSI, I consider TSI to be what they keep the price fixed / high on for profit for dealer and the monitor is the exact same thing with lower profit for internet direct models. I liked the old monitors with the whole black face better. -

Actually now that I have thought about for a while I now think the design is terrible...looks like I could find it at walmart...and I misspelled that but you know what I mean. If we chase this segmet of the market all the way down it will be the end of us all. Maybe it would be better to cut the monitor line loose from Polk and call it a Polk-ette or a Polk-a-dot. In 1.5 years this is the 3rd style change for the poor old Monitor and what a shame as that is where we all came from.
I have my original boxes from my M10's of the mid 70's and they proudly say "Studio Monitor"...and that used to mean something.Main Family Room: Sony 46 LCD, Sony Blue Ray, Sony DVD/VCR combo,Onkyo TXNR 708, Parasound 5250,

499 each for the 75T?
Hmmm.. Competing with some very nice speakers in this range. I don't know..I have found that tube based computers provide the best sound quality. ENIAC and MANIAC I offer a smooth, well defined and articulated sound unmatched by the current silicon based CPUs.jeremymarcinko wrote: »But as in all things your perception is your reality. -
When the M-70 came out originally they were listed at almost that SAME MSRP, but never really sold at that price! The regular price ended up being 399 and they were almost always discounted to 299 at Circuit City, and other big box stores, all the time. That's a FLEX number.
Then newegg got a hold of Monitors and the "bottom" was the limit in pricing?
TSIs are not replacements for Monitors? Have you looked at the speakers, specs, drivers? Of course they are the replacement! Only difference is "nicer" cabinetry, bottom port on towers and a uniform crossover of 2.5 khz for EVERY speaker in the TSI line. That is NOT the case for Monitors! Probably intended for a more seamless HT experience and integration?
Want proof. M series disappeared from Polk's site when TSIs appeared, they were moved to VINTAGE PRODUCTS section? Why? Because the TSIs replaced them!
