Raife, you could call Jeff or Elliot and see if he'll give you the discount anyway (after the fact). We at Polk buy a fair amount from Sonic Craft. I haven't asked for an "after the fact sale price" but it may be worth asking about. The worst they can say is "no". Just a thought.....

Very nice work! I had watched an online demo of some soldering because I always wanted to give it a try. My question is the guy kind of made a big deal about having the solder coming up thru the board, are these crimped in, soldered etc? Really nice work, it makes me want to try it.

Nice looking job! I realize they are on sale, but aren't the claritycaps a better choice?

If you get the ESA's (or higher) all around, I would say absolutely yes is the answer. They will cost you more, and you will have to special order a number of cap values. The audio (resolution, clarity, transparency, imaging, soundstage, etc.) you will hear will absolutely be better though. If you get lower level Clarity Caps, for the money the Sonicaps are better and at 20% off would be my choice.

I'm no expert but these boards are great and yes everything is soldered but there is lots of room to work so I think most anyone can learn and do this.
The reason I went with Sonic is Gimpod.com has it all laid out on the part list and they are best bang for the buck, he said.
Keep in mind even at that caps and resistors for both boards shipped was $317 for me that's a lot. I have the caps and resistors for the SDA 1c 's in yesterday so I will start this weekend.. Here is a picture of the (#2) left channel on the SDA 2.3tls. Thanks to all for your comments I really enjoyed the learning, pleasure and feeling of accomplishment doing this upgrade.
