The Pioneer VSX is great. I have installed well over 25 of them. We have seen a few issues with them. Sometimes switching between input CD to another input the unit will lock up. Im sure this is a firmware issues and it can be fixed by resetting the unit. Another issue we have seen is the Component (RGB) switching board breaking (no video output). But this isnt a big deal because all the units are moving over to HDMI switching.
VSX is rock solid. They have loads of power and you can make them sound great. Look into the "pioneer mcacc" for easy sound adjustment.

I would return the Denon and use the credit for a Sub.
