One of my local buddies had these in some KEF or other (non Polk) speakers that someone replaced the originals with before he got them.
He now has acquired correct woofers so I bought it from him.
Woofer surrounds have engraved Polk audio on them and some numbers.
SR-142-17
It's the same number in both.
There is nothing else in the magnet or anywhere.
It appears that the sticker with model number fell off somewhere.
Any idea?
I'll take few snaps when I get home.
Thanks

Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
Thanks for the link Gary.
I went through that thread but that doesn't help.
There is nothing written/stamped in the back.
Here are couple of pictures. May be it gives a clue.
The terminals have black and white wires clipped if that's any help.

Dang!
The gasket is cut in an angle on the mounting holes but may be same with all MW drivers.
Is the test something that can be done easily?

If you have a very accurate Digital VOM, and measure the coil resistance, might be able to narrow it down.Home Theater/2 Channel:

I have one but not sure how accurate is that.
I'll check them tonight and see.

Okay, called home and did a tech support walk through to measure them.
One reads 8.7 ohms and another 8.9 ohms.

That's way too high. Your meter is either not calibrated, or is not accurate enough.Home Theater/2 Channel:

I see.
I'll check again when I go home.
Also will test a resistor from Polk S8 crossover to see if that also gives weird readings.
I have used this meter to read polk monitor speakers and 8 ohm speakers show around 6.8 ohms.
So it's close enough but may not highly accurate.

You can't measure a speaker's nominal impedance by measuring the resistance at the binding posts.Political Correctness'.........defined

Ditto, Also remember to subtract the resistance of the test leads from the total resistance measured. Most stated DCR measurements are nominal meaning there can be differences from the stated DCR and the measured DCR. And to make things worse most cheaper DMM's are not very accurate when measuring small amounts of resistance < 10 ohms.
Now there is a way to measure milliohms without breaking the bank on a hi-end DMM by using Ohms law for figuring resistance R = V/I, If you can apply a small constant current of 100ma or 0.100 amps around 5 volts DC to the driver then measure the voltage drop across the driver this will give you all the info needed to calculate the DCR.
An example: Lets say you apply around 5 vdc at 0.100 amps to the driver and you measure a voltage drop of .313 volts using ohms law the resistance or DCR will be 3.13 Ohms. V = 0.313 divided by I = 0.100 amps = 3.13 Ohms.
In the next couple days I'll be posting a how-to on how make an adapter so that your low end DMM can read milliohms with a fair degree of accuracy.“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” ~ Mark Twain -
Okay, looks like the readings were off.
I checked multiple times and one reads consistent at 7.7 ohms and another consistent at 7.6 ohms.
Hopefully, this will narrow it down.

BTW, are all MW65xx series have different ohm readings or can there be some with same ohm readings but different model?

Is there a list of speakers that use MW6501?

8 years old thread but still have these.
I looked for these in the basement to see if they work in the SDA1 that I just got.
However, one reads open.
How can it be? They were sitting on a shelf and not even touched all these years.

Try using your meter to the wire coming off the spades to the cone on the speaker and see what happens. May be a cold solder joint at the spade. Doubtful but could be.

Already did that and still no resistance.
