Recommended Speaker Wire
For runs of 30', what guage/type of speaker wire should I be using? Does it really make a big difference?

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
It must cost at least $250.00 per foot to be any good.If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

For a run that long the heavier the guage the better, check out Blue Jeans Cable, the Canare 4S11 at $1.35 a foot is some good stuff.2-Channel System

If you want to do DIY cables this is a good source for the Canare 4S11. A lot of bang for the buck.

Just ran a friends whole system in this. He was using monprice before and he loves this new wire. -

I used 14/4 for my front three for a bit. Not bad at .75c per foot. I got out of there for 33 dollars for 33 feet of wire."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." +1 - great wire for the price. -
monoprice is good enough but the gauge is important for long runs. It depends on the power of the speakers that you will run. They have these charts that recommend gauge for power over particular lenght..I have found that tube based computers provide the best sound quality. ENIAC and MANIAC I offer a smooth, well defined and articulated sound unmatched by the current silicon based CPUs.jeremymarcinko wrote: »But as in all things your perception is your reality.

Even I'm getting tired of this one.30' per run is getting up there. I would go w/ a no brand 14 gauge. But if you must have a name behind it and not rip your wallet apart Blue Jeans,Monoprice,Parts Express will help you out.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
