For runs of 30', what guage/type of speaker wire should I be using? Does it really make a big difference?

    Audioquest Flx 14-2 for just about any speakers and amp combos at 30 foot runs.

    For a run that long the heavier the guage the better, check out Blue Jeans Cable, the Canare 4S11 at $1.35 a foot is some good stuff.

    If you want to do DIY cables this is a good source for the Canare 4S11. A lot of bang for the buck.

    Just ran a friends whole system in this. He was using monprice before and he loves this new wire.

    I used 14/4 for my front three for a bit. Not bad at .75c per foot. I got out of there for 33 dollars for 33 feet of wire.

    monoprice is good enough but the gauge is important for long runs. It depends on the power of the speakers that you will run. They have these charts that recommend gauge for power over particular lenght..

    Even I'm getting tired of this one.30' per run is getting up there. I would go w/ a no brand 14 gauge.But if you must have a name behind it and not rip your wallet apart Blue Jeans,Monoprice,Parts Express will help you out.
