I'll be picking this up , she's amazing.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I recently picked up used CDs of All For You, Love Scenes, and When I look In Your Eyes. I was a bit surprised at how many photos of her adorn the cases/booklets. I mean yes she is attractive but her music speaks for itself. No need to plaster pictures of her in different poses over ever page. But hey, I guess sex sells...

Gave this new release first listen tonight. I like it! While the sound quality doesn't reach the top of the heap, best of best, it is very good and doesn't get in the way of the music at all. So many releases today are just slammed loud and fidelity gone, that it's a relief to buy something new and have it sound pretty decent.
While I'm not an expert on her, I think the material here is very good. A bluesy feel on several cuts that I enjoyed. Seemed to get stronger as it goes along song wise. I picked up the Deluxe version which has four extra cuts which turn out to sound like her just setting down at the piano and playing and singing solo versions of four of the songs. Very strong!
Good stuff!
CJA so called science type proudly says... "I do realize that I would fool myself all the time, about listening conclusions and many other observations, if I did listen before buying. That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."

"I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me-like food or water."

Thanks, I'm going to listen to all these artists this weekend when I have time!

I gave the vinyl a listen last night. I generally enjoy anything she does, and this was no exception. As with all her stuff, I thought the recording was excellent, but perhaps maybe a tad heavy on reverb in some parts. It was a big departure for her typical musical style, to me it seemed like a cross between ragtime with acoustic jazz, with a bit of blues. Some of it came across as a rather similar style to stuff on Raising Sand by Plant/Krauss. But it's definitely a slower tempo than a lot of the work she's done, there's no 'Deed I Do' on here, that's for sure. But she's got enough talent to make any genre enjoyable. And that's even without staring at the album cover the entire time! I want to see her in concert. I'll definitely be listening to this regularly, as I do with a lot of her work.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I was just standing in Starbucks and this guy was literally gawking at the new cd cover for like ten minutes. The whole staff was laughing. But I can see why. That is one F-I-N-E cover shot.

It's growing on me
Hey, keep that stuff to yourself. This is an audio forum :twisted:Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
And no, the guy gawking in Starbuck for ten minutes was NOT me.
