Whether you realize it or not (obviously not) you come across as an ungrateful cry baby. Try to work on that.

""Most people bypass what is good and refreshing in their lives, and habitually focus on the unpleasant, bad elements."
How easily all our attention can get absorbed by our "problems". Thinking and talking about them strengthens a false sense of self. And so we miss the good in our lives. Where's the good? It's where Life is: in the present moment. It's in the clouds and vast spaciousness of the sky, the air you breathe, the life-giving light and warmth of the sun, the silence of the night. It's in a small act of kindness given or received. It's in the sound of the rain, the intense aliveness of a flower....the same aliveness that you can also feel inside your body. Another word for acknowledging the good in your life is - gratitude." -Plutarch

My life is filled with good things and I try to be helpful where I can. Ungrateful? Nah. Actually gratitude is a big part of my life and has helped me see the world in a way much different than when I was an angry young man.

In 1992 one of my MW6510's went out (2.3tls) so still in warranty back then they sent me a replacement a MM 6510 that's right a MM a car speaker I did not know any better and put it in till 2007 then I found a ORIGINAL MW 6510 on Ebay and replaced it... realizing that the speaker system now sounded better on close listening I also noticed then that both top tweeters were out L/R speakers checked out this forum and since everyone was saying how the new 198's sounded better I ordered two of them from Polk now it looked kinda funny so I did the rest of them over the next two months which put them where they are now. But I only discovered about 6 months ago that the MM 6510 speaker was wrong, after all I thought that is what was considered the correct replacement, they sent it to me, BTW the MM 6510 is very stiff compared to the MW 6510. One thing that does kinda jump out at me is if the new MW speakers are not good then why is the new tweeters sound so much better they after all look cheaper and we all know where they are probably made (China)

I spent a few minutes on the phone this morning with Mr. M. He is a very busy man, but he took time out to let me get to know him a little better. I have spent a lot of time on various forums for many of the hobbies I have, but I have never had the opportunity to deal with a better guy. He is paying it forward and I hope the Karma train slams smack dab into him. A little lottery luck or something pleasant and unforeseen would be great.

I read, and re-read his quote last night. I can't do it justice, but I'll paraphrase and try... It is the small things in life which bring the most pleasure, if allowed. Chasing the end of the rainbow without taking the time to see the beauty, or smell the rain, isn't much of a journey. Take some time, be kind, and let the world worry without you. Life is good.

I agree, Mr. M for "Polkie of the Year".

    UPDATE:

I called and ordered my new tweeters today. The Polk customer service was great. Very helpful indeed. I hope to have them in by the weekend and get them swapped out. I'm not sure what the market is for used tweeters, but I'll have 4 of the 2000 model to sell. I can't think of a reason why I wouldn't sell them???

I now have to procure the parts for the crossover upgrade. I seen a link somewhere as to what parts I need to buy and a step-by-step guide to updating the x-overs. I'll hunt it down later tonight and try to get a list together. The tech guy told me he really didn't see anything wrong with going to a lesser quality on the caps. He said the Sonicaps were pretty big and expensive. Not sure if I can hear the difference, considering I'm old and hard of hearing. If anyone out there can say with certainty this isn't the place to save a little money, please chime in. I don't want to cut a corner and end up having to re-do them anyway down the road.

Thanks again for the help everyone.

Let me see , I stopped getting my kids ready to start school today, went out in the dark and dug through boxes in my shed, put off my moring appointment and shipped a speaker before arranging any kind of payment with the buyer. That IS an act of kindness my friend. My actions speak for themselves. I don't need or seek an award or a pat on the back , my satisfaction comes from helping out a person in need. The humility part is kinda hard to hide since this is a public forum. I won't even get into the 2 hours I spent on a roof in 98 degree heat at the local no-kill animal shelter trying to help them get their a/c problems taken care of...for free. I don't mention these things to pat myself on the back, I'm simply letting you know how far off base you are where I am concerned.

You remind me of how I used to be years ago before I made some drastic changes in my life and became willing to take a long hard look at my shortcomings and make some changes, angry and always complaining about the world and all the faults of other people. Everything was the rest of the worlds fault not mine, I was always right and I surely knew it all. You don't know me or my story, and let me assure you I do plenty in my community to "give back". Allow me to extend an olive branch in hopes that we can try to avoid such issues in the future, we are all here because we love Polk and music...common ground. If I have come across as an **** I offer my apologies. But I'm not singing Cumbaya:wink:

If you are going to keep them for a long time. (my wife can bury me in one of the 2.3 TLS:razz:)
I would get the better caps and get the new boards for them from Gimpod
    http://www.gimpod.com/
The parts list is there also with so much information you be up all night.
As far as setting up the speakers so that the SDA works properly you need to do as many of these things that you can.
Use the long wall of the room so if it is 15x20 try to use the 20' side keep them 4 feet from any side wall and at least 6 feet apart I like 8 feet, 8 inches from the back wall. (I found this out later as I had a tall rack setup) Do not put anything between the two speakers that is not at least 3" behind the front and if you can, not over 3 feet high. It's almost like you are creating a sonic hologram (no Carver pun intended) and the closer you can get to the optimum the more detailed and stronger it is.

Thank you Mr P for the placement direction. We are looking at building a new house and I've got my eye on how the basement is configured for a theater room. Nothing fancy (I consider myself working poor) but functional and out of the way. I want a dedicated area for viewing movies and tv with the family... Almost make it an experience. What I have in mind is about 12' x 14'. Not sure if it is large enough or if I'll need to re- think and put them in the main, wide-open portion of the downstairs. I have a Polk center with some bi/dipole Polks in the rear. This will be a long- term project... I'm still in the dreaming phase...

It's amazing how the trolls creep out of the woodwork all at once. Jesse has been helping me out for years, never were any unkind words exchanged. And there will be a long queue of people behind me with the same sentiment. aloutah, I challenged you on another thread to point me to one single post of yours where a fellow member has had an issue that you solved for them. You ignored me. Now we all know why you ignored me, it's because you can't do it. The only posts of yours that you'll be able to find are where you troll your way into a thread and stir up trouble. Go crawl back under your rock.

Saftgeek, on behalf of the people who have been around this place for a while and have helped dozens of people like yourself, please accept my apology that yet another one of your threads has become a circus act. Stick with the advice you get from people like F1Nut, H9, and VR3, and you can't go wrong. There's a reason why they have so many posts, and it's not because they troll around on threads looking to stir up trouble.

I tried to listen but the speaker issue set me back. I have a little project I'm cooking up with the Father of one of the Girl Scouts in my daughter's troop. It seems he is a review writer for some very heavy hitting companies and he is super interested in this journey to resurrect my SDA's. (I've named them " my SDA's"). He is friends with Sandy and said he was going to call him and mention my endeavor. I want to do this right and hopefully learn some lessons along the way. I know if I get too carried away I may cause more harm than good. I don't want to ruin anything before it even gets off the ground.

Please bear with me while I attempt to pitch this idea and gauge interest. You cannot imagine how anxious I truly am to get knee-deep in this stuff. I ordered my tweeters and plan to put the xover order together this weekend. I will need matting and I suspect rings/binding posts. I am really excited to move forward... Please don't take my slow pace as anything more than a busy Dad trying to keep a life grinding harmoniously away...

Thank you all for the help/encouragement. I happen to enjoy a good circus, so no harm done...
