I might as well put my Rotel 5 channel amp & new Yammie RX-A3010 AVR to full use. The Rotel will handle the main 5 & the Yammie will handle the rest. I'm currently running 9.2 & it sounds incredible. I can only imagine what adding two more to the mix will bring. Talk about an in home movie theater. Whether it's 11.2 or two channel listening I've covered. I just can't give enough kudos to how well this Yammie performs & sounds. Do I need to turn in my card???? LOL!!! Love ya Jesse!!!

LOL. If you have enough speakers to do it go for it. Myself I am still in 5.1 land and very happy to be here. I am totally setup room wise for 7.1 but that requires another set of speakers that my wife will probably not allow anytime soon lol.

5.1 with heights I might be able to pull off but since my AVR wont do it I am screwed lol.

Time to start harassing the wife to go 7.1

I think you should skip 11.2 and go straight into Onkyo TX-NR5010 and utilise it's capabilities to handle 11.4 channel.
This is a true neighbour's nightmare.
Just kidding. 11.2 sounds awesome. I can see you use a nice set of speakers for that as well. Good Luck.

Sounds like you're having fun. Those new Yammies are nice, so are the KEFs. I've heard your unit. As for me. I'm sort of with Ender... though I do have the extra sub and two speakers for 7.2 (my AVR can't do much more), I still run in 5.1 because my wife would not appreciate two more speakers behind the couch somewhere and another sub on the other side of the room. lol WAF, very "big" here! Too funny about the WAF! I guess I'm lucky in that my wife gives me full reign with the "Mancave". At least up to a point. But she surely enjoys the fruit of my labor though, in fact she's commemted on how nice our setup is. So there's a method to her madnes in letting me go full bore. And yes, the 3010 is one awesome performing AVR. I'm extremely happy I took a plunge & went with it.

Well rock on with your bad self Phil! It's great the you have that much room for all those speakers & a wife that lets you play with them. My 5.2 system sounds pretty good, but I'm starting to consider retiring my beloved RTA-8Ts.

Yeah it sure does help having a wife that understands that I'm a nut case!!! Retiring the RTA's???? What are you looking at. Sometimes it's just time to try something different. I say go for it. I would love to meet you for sure.

I'm not sure yet if I can make it, but I'll do my best to get there.

Remind me to talk with you about this when I come down Mark. But realize that I have very limited choices when it comes to going to stores & listening to speakers. This shop is out in Waltham, far but I can get to it, and I have heard these speakers and liked what I heard. But I do trust your opinion & are willing to listen to what you think is wrong with them.

Cathy, I know it's hard to get an ear on everything, given certain locals will be limited to choices. Sometimes it works to go on blind faith too. Point is, don't limit yourself. You know the sound you like, seek out the speakers that will go along with your tastes by reviews or Polkie suggestions. The speaker world is your oyster sister.

I'm very happy your system is performing well bro , I've said it before and I'll say it again , I got to make some time to get over and check out the Kef/Yamaha setup. It's going into Octoberfest season along with Pumpkin Ales so I see a road trip and a few 6 packs of really good brew , I'll bring the brew.

Height & width speakers don't have to be timbre matched. You don't have to spend a ton for those aplications.

I'm running Def Tech ProMonitor 1000's for the front presence. Probably a tad overkill but they sure do sound sweet. I picked them up used on Amazon & I'm getting ready to pick up another pair for the rear presence. I'd rather have more & not need it than less & wish I had more.

Pretty much, slight variation in the name & the DSP program. Yamaha has been doing their owm DSP programs for years now. The other guys are pretty much just getting started.

Front width speakers are hard to achieve just because of the 60 degree angle needed for placement.

My room is 14x33x7 (3,200+cubicft). Yamaha has their own DSP program called Cinema HD2 DSP & they have been perfecting it for years & they've nailed it in filling in the sound to round out an 11.2 system. My room is the perfect size to pull it off with awesome results. To be able to expand like I did you really do need the right size room or it's not worth it & can literally muck up the sound.
