Went into sams yesterday with the family...and by the electronics . they had 4 huge boxes with Polk home theater systems in them...for $999.000- tried to find a model #..but nothing correlated with the stuff I've seen on the website>
It had the reciever, sub, mains, sats and center- and the boxes were in perfect shape (if you shope at sams ..you know what i'm getting at here)... but I could not believe what I was seeing.
right next to the POS kenwood HTIB system (sorry kenwood lovers)...
never thought I'd see polks at sams...\

I just found about about this, too, amazingly enough.
According to Inside Sales, this is called the RMDS3.
The RMDS3 is a unit consisting of RM6200 satellite 5-packs optimized to work with the RMDS1 preamp/processor & sub-based amplifier. "So essentially is it very similar to the original RMDS1." It is being sold exclusively to certain clubs (Price Clubs, Sams Clubs, etc.). There are only 500 units of this type in existence and none to be made or sold in the future.

I bought the RMDS3 system. I can say that it is awesome and only $999.
If you don't mind the smaller satellite speakers, it's an inexpensive way to get a nice integrated Polk System. I'm really happy with it.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I have one of the RMDS-3 systems, and I need a new DB25 cable that hooks from the preamp to the subwoofer. Can it be a printer cable or is there something special about the Polk supplied cable?

Well ****, I still like my Polks."The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."

I like the fact that the Polk Sales force is taking advantage of established distribution lines.

If you really, really want a true feeling of rareness, exclusivity, and audio esoterica from owning a Polk product, you are going to have to get into SDA's. These are available for demo (with appropriate setup and electronics) at selected SDA cultist's homes. If you are not within reasonable driving distance of a cultist, and you are the the type who does not mind buying on faith, then you should know that SDA's pop up every now and then on Ebay and Audiogon, mainly due to falling victim to the dreaded "Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF)". Happy hunting.;)
I should warn you though, that most cultists are rather secretive about their exact location which makes arranging a demo somewhat difficult. Arranging a sale is even more difficult, as most cultists are only willing to sell their SDA's to other cultists.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
